I drained the mobil1 5w30 out of my truck at 10,000 miles. I had 6qts of M1 10w30 to go back in it but insted used 5w30 castrol gtx for kicks.
Now with 10,080 miles on the truck I'm thinking about replacing the castrol with my M1 10w30.
I blame all of you for pushing my only on weekends habit to a full blown ism! Oilism that what we have! My name is Matt and I'm an oilholic.

Well heh, i guess you could drain your oil and pour it back into the original bottle and stick it on the shelf for the next time you have an oil changing urge.

Changing oil doesn't always have to mean using fresh, virgin oil.

Matt "S",

Do you go to meetings?

Do you realize (yet) that you have no control over the oil, but that's OK, it's not your fault??

For sick in the headness, here's what I once did:

April 04 I installed 6 qts 10w30 Maxlife, 15 ounces Rislone Winter Start (to get rid of), and 20 oz of the discontinued STP 6000-Mile Oil Extender (a ZDDP adder among other things and not thick like the other STPs). I ran it 12 miles and then realized that I had wanted to to a UOA on my 4000+ mile trip and that I should not have used the additives. So I drained it into empty oil bottles and stored it and the full filter, and refilled the motorhome with straight 10w30 Maxlife. After the trip I drained the oil and refilled with the stored, slightly used oil and filter.

Well, don't keep us in suspense; How did your 4000 mile UOA come out? How many miles on your motorhome? What kind of engine? Did it use any oil on the trip? Where did you go?

Werd. Its a great oil. Keep it in there for a bit. We haven't seen any UOA's for any SM oils yet. But The old stuff put up as good a numbers on Dino that you see. I would think the SM would be even better

Sorry guys, but I checked the bottle and I'm still running SL oil. But you have convenced me to run it (maybe 5K) and also my boss has the same truck with 253,000 miles on it. He uses nothing but 5W30 castrol gtx for 7,000 mile oci.
He drives 74 miles all highway each way to work.
