This afternoon I noticed a late 90s Camry had a wheel cover that was about to come right off on the highway. A few miles down the road, the driver took the same exit I did and stopped at a traffic light right next to me. So I roll down my window and inform him. His response was "It's just plastic." The speed these things come off at is unbelievable, but he reckons there's no harm done. Many years ago, I had an aluminium wheel cover dent and puncture my gas tank and the driver was probably just as ignorant, or rather arrogant!
I was also at a garage a few days back, to sort out a tire that had a nail in it. Some guy was getting some work done to this '03 Lexus ES, and the mechanic was about to pour ACDelco Dexcool into his system. He wasn't flushing out the old coolant, he was going to top up Toyota Super Long Life with Dexcool! So I went and politely told him Dexcool cannot be mixed with Toyota SLL, and that he has to flush the whole system. The mechanic's response was "They're all the same". It's no wonder vehicles do not last long in this country.
