How many years could you go before you wanted to blow your brains out?

I would wager no human could go more than 1000 years before going insane.

That's why vampires are twisted.

No ageing. Be whatever age you want. I'm talking about the mental aspect.

A very good wager. It would probably take close to 900 years to figure out that you're wrong.

While we're at, let's talk about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

I don't think this works with the human spirit. There is a day of reckoning we all have. Some older, some younger. At some point a man realizes his fallacy and that "Father Time" cannot and will not be controlled no matter how much man tinkers.

Modern times 100 years old is old but plenty of people reach that mark in functioning health. Who knows, another century we may be commonly hitting the 120 mark. "Father Time" will still get you

Well it's all quite pointless if you consider the eventual heat death of the universe.

I think I could've gone on forever while I was in kindergarten... seemed like it would last forever, no pressure etc...

things really go downhill from there.

I have no interest to live particularly long, just want to be in good enough health to provide for the family and see the daughter make something of her life.

70 would be enough I think...

I'm already 55, so I would say maybe to stay at age 35 and go on forever, as long as in good health and I don't have to work forever. It would be nice to do fun stuff all the time and not have to go to some [censored] job.

Similar, my wife asked about my bucket list last year.

Was basically was to do enough now that they will be looked after regardless of what happens.

Then this thread...eternal life would mean eternal work of some description, and that would mean keeping one step ahead of the robots that are taking over everyone else's jobs.

In consideration, what we get (on average) is about OK.

I'd be happy to stay and learn every new development in whatever field took my fancy, but that time has to be paid for somehow.

If my wife is with me...forever. If not...about 12 hours.

If society continues changing the way it has over my lifetime, I certainly wouldn't want to stick around forever...it's sickening to watch how this country, and the world really, is spinning down the toilet...there are still good things and joys to experience in life, but they're getting harder and harder to come by...

Had to smile when I read this reply. I am 69 this year and now I think 80 might be enough. When I hit 80 if that time comes I will probably say 90 will be enough. As long as my health holds out along with enough money to live comfortably on, I will go for longevity.

Good gosh....you sound EXACTLY like me!

I have great difficulty dealing with all the cultural changes right now. I doubt I'd stay sane for any longer than I already have to endure.

I have about four "good" days a week where I can focus on things I somewhat enjoy without letting my surroundings (people) get to me. The rest of the week I am usually very bummed and try my best to cheer up. It's almost impossible for me. I interact with losers (my opinion of them by the way they behave) on a daily basis....and have to drive to and from work of course (more losers...often dangerous ones and rude by cutting you off, never signaling...disregard for the law, speed limits, lack of any driving skill).

If it wasn't for my girlfriend and my dogs? I wouldn't want to be around much at all.

It's interesting that you say that. People have been saying that the world was getting worse since the 19th century and way before that I'm sure. You had the civil war, WWI and then WWII. The latest wars aren't actually that bad compared to those.
