and we may be able to figure out who HIT MY CAR last night...it's white/off white, has a funky shape, and says ENGINE on the top. It would be on the right front of the engine bay as the right front of their car hit my car on the left rear corner...

Finding a local with a quarter of their car missing might help, too! Sorry about the accident, buddy. Hopefully insurance will take good care of you.

My wife has been all over this town and the two nearest towns and I'm hitting two more later this afternoon. Haha, hitting, I'm funny.

Here's another shot of the dipstick and the headlight adjuster bits:

Are there any DOT numbers on any of the headlight pieces?

Maybe you could track the manufacturer down that way.

Sorry about the hit and run........good luck.

I checked all the pieces, all I have is "SAE" on one bit. None of the other pieces have any part numbers. I'm going to double check, but I have nothing so far. I'm not so lucky to get a complete part number or anything because that would be easy. No, this is going to be difficult. And now I'm in the market for a Torino taillight.

Yep my Mitsu Outlander with the 2.4 had the same dipstick.

Interestingly enough, it seems someone in town who drives a maroon Mirage is missing. Her car isn't home. She isn't home. Her son and mother don't know where she is. And although the dipstick in a Mirage is on the back side of the engine and not the front...it is the same dipstick.

My wife is out looking for her now.

I would report that to the police. They can make a friendly visit to her house and ask to see her car.

Talked to her boyfriend, he says she's at work and will be home soon but "she didn't hit no car last night or any night".

I do have a partial number off the cornering light housing but it's just a compliance number and isn't specific to any one vehicle:

DOT SAE AIPP2 93

I don't have enough of the light to have any additional part numbers. But I have the general shape figured out and I would have to say it's very close to the 1997-02 Mirage. That could make sense as that generation was introduced in 1993 and only had minor changes through 2002. I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow to match the pieces up to some cars they have. The headlight retaining clips also match to the Mirage.

If the Mirage is a 1.5L, the dipstick is up front. If a 1.8, it's behind the cylinder head. So a 1.5L 97-02 Mirage is definitely a strong possibility and she's the only person in town who has one, and it IS MAROON.

Not so much out as broke the tip off at the top of the tube. And a Mirage 1.5L would be in the right spot to crunch in and pop it off, leaving it on the ground.

I've notified a few body shops, talked to the local mechanic and the one in the town south of here, and I'm about to go talk to the chick with the maroon Mirage.
