I love Valvoline Oils but this statement right here is wonky.

Quote:

FILING A CLAIM:

Consumers are eligible to file claims 18 months after registering. However, the guarantee doesn't cover damage occurring in the first 18 months after registration. That's because we need to establish a short history of routine maintenance for the vehicle. Don't worry, we'll help you do that by sending you maintenance reminders and car care tips.

Basically for 1 year and 6 months after registering you cannot file a claim. So if you use their oil, and the engine suffers from an oil related issue your SOL if its within that first 1 1/2 years. Anything AFTER that 1 1/2 years your good to be covered.

I wonder if that would be true if you have always used Valvoline and you could prove your maintenance schedule.

Remember, read all the rules. It is not that you must change your oil every 3-4K, but you have to have your vehicle serviced per the manufactures recommendations. That means everything the manufacture recommends, down to tune-up, tire rotations, etc.

No but I used to be a Castrol dino man OR Mobil-1 if I wanted a full-syn. I am now (like you) beginning to wonder if a blend is the "best of both worlds" and the best choice vs. cost...

Between visc, brands and intervals, the brand of oil you use is least important.

imo, running low on oil is the worst thing you can do. How does the warranty cover that?

The Pennzoil warranty is for 300,000 and you only have to use Yellow Bottle and change every 4,000. Valvoline conventional is only warranted for 150,000.

It doesn't:

"THIS LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER CLAIMS THAT ARE THE RESULT OF: ...THE FAILURE TO KEEP THE MOTOR OIL AND ENGINE COOLANT AT LEVELS PRESCRIBED BY THE MANUFACTURER."

I went on their site and couldn`t fine any warranty info. Did I miss it on the site?

Also, where can you get their racing 20W50 oil? Can it be used in a daily driver like VR1?
