Hello,
I just ordered 12 Wix 57002 oil filters. We have 2 Mazda vehicles with the 2.5 liter non turbo 4 cylinder engines. I used to buy Napa Gold and I heard they were made by Wix. The filters are coming from Rock Auto.
Someone here said the quality has reduced at Wix. Maybe they fixed that. Anyone know? Thanks.

they are no longer the filters we all remember. they are now M+H purolator and have gone downhill. safest bet right now is Vietnamese made Premium Guard XL variants.

They are still fine, if a little too rich for me. Hope you scored a great deal

The 57002 filters for Mazda from Wix still seem ok. Just make sure the louvers in the center tube are open.

You ordered Wix, knowing they have had issues since the buy out, instead of the Premium Guards, which are cheaper and waaaaay better quality? Wish you would have come here before doing that.

Try Purolator's or Premium Guards but certainly use up your WIX filters unless you can return them.
I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I had to use up 12 Wix filters before switching to a better one 😆
I have one Fram Endurance that I’m going to use up in my Corvette because I hate wasting something that cost me almost $20 Canadian (with the exchange rate being what it is) but after that it’s just PG made filters for a while (as long as they don’t get worse!) 😬

May want to take a look at a new video at Crazy Bill's Garage . Opened a WIX filter by Mann + Hummel made in Mexico and another by Premium Guard made in South Korea . Not sure if it applies to other WIX oil filters .

I was trying to make it easier for OP to sleep at night w/WIX if they couldn't return them. 😅
Agreed, WIX hasn't been stellar filter for quality control. Granted some of their XP line, posted here, are getting the Boss reinforced media & seems to be a good option to get around their QC issues. Unfortunately there's no good way to tell if you're getting the Boss or not so yeah, skip the WIX basically. I think you mentioned the PG are cheaper for you then the FE filters & Corvettes are not known to go many miles on an oil filter anyways since a lot of folks keep them hot. ;)

The OLM usually signals an oil change on my Corvette at around 7000 miles so that’s my typical interval. The CQP should be good for those intervals 😎

I did not know Wix had gone downhill when I ordered them. Not sure how bad the downhill slide is? Did M&H go into the factory and say "you must use this paper now"?

I do wish I had come here first. I ordered first, then came here and found out the Wix problem.

The filters you purchased have generally been ok—use them without worry. I use them regularly.
