Holograms, buffer trails, swirls...

Have to love dealership detailers.

Back to work...

Im jealous...jealous you can actually do work on cars right now..i need to move south..my car is full of snow and ice which hides the imperfections for now..ice is growing on the drivers side floor area..haha you will make quick work of that car i bet!!

I take that and smile any day of the week compared to what mine looks like right now.

It was a used car, but it is not uncommon to see new cars this way either. Waging the car and spraying it with iron-x will strip most of the fillers.

Remember, most carnauba waxes and sealants will fill quite a bit. So the holograms and buffer trails will be masked for a month or two.

Ha....better off not having them try and polish a car like that at all. I doubt they give these guys any training today. Years ago a lot of dealers would actually pay to have a company come in and train them on the proper techniques. I'm also surprised that they would give them straight drive buffers. While they are very helpful to people who are trained properly they can SERIOUSLY damage good paint by burning it or worse.

Dont feel bad, just got my car back from the Dealer and they washed it

I forgot to tell them NOT TO WASH MY CAR. Now swirls and spider webbing affect ALL OVER THE CAR. I mean for real??? What do they use a dirty towel that the mechanics use to wipe wheel grease with or what???

I will wash and re polish my car on Monday. Hope I can get most of it out by hand. Dont have time to go over the whole car with a D/A right now.

It'll take you a lot longer by hand. I have 2 hr into this 528i and I'm about 1/2 done. You should be able to do the GTI in under 4. Meg MF cutting disc should do it.

I'd be happy if I could have a car that clean right now. Right now all the vehicles around here are salt white.

Same... I washed mine yesterday and today it looks like it has been through a war zone.

Before:

After (not perfect, but good enough for a 1-step):

The polishing is finished. It took about 6 hours. It's getting the interior detailed tomorrow and a coat of Blackfire Wet Diamond Paint Sealant for protection. Here's a quick terrible picture that I took after I had finished the qtr panel and doors. In this picture, I had not polished the bumper yet -- so you still see the holograms and swirls on the bumper:

Thought he got one recently.

I did purchase one recently, but have not had a chance to use it much.

I did take a few pictures with it and posted them in the 528i thread.
