Not a bad idea for the frankenblend folks.

I like it. Often I leave drain pans in awkward titled vertical positions teetered on top of a funnel into a cat litter jug. Its precarious at best but it works.

My father had a severe oil burner and would take the "empties" and drain so as to get a 13th quart out of each case. Not this fancy though.

Service station in the 70's, In the garage we had a screen sieve over a steel bucket where we inverted "drippies". This was back with the old cardboard cans and puncture spouts; a quick quart top off in the fuel lane left a lot in the can worth retrieving.

Before I bought my new Honda mower, the drippings from years of oil changes went into the mower. Now I have a warranty, so it gets one brand, one weight.

Nice idea for sure.

I invert my jug over another jug I keep for the drips. It sits on my workbench over night and the next day its "dry" as it can get. It adds up over time. Well worth the extra 30 seconds it takes me to set it up.

I’ll tell you what, I work at a shop, and I see probably 50 containers a day thrown in the trash with a little bit of oil left in them...something like this would probably get me a whole quart of oil by the end of the week. And probably get me put into the loony bin, but I like it just the same!

Using an elaborate drain contraption is clever, but akin to turning shampoo bottles upside down in the shower...just to save a few cents worth of product. These days I just hold them upside down for a few sec. Besides, the used oil gets dumped back into the jug, which is taken to the recycle station; the few remaining drops of new oil gets recycled so it really isn't wasted!

Something like that would probably make sense. I just use one 5 quart jug once, maybe twice a year. For me it’s not worth the time.

Look like your shop needs to get bulk oil drums - like yesterday,

In the shower I use shampoo until its almost out, then I place them upside down over night. That usually get 2-3 more uses out of them. Then, final step is to add a bit of hot water to the bottle, swish it around and use one last time. I can afford anything I need, I am just not wasteful any time I can avoid it. Its an ingrained behavior I learned as a child of depression era kids.
