i was driving earlier today,i was driving about 45mph,and i thought i use the overdrive, but i had alreay put the shifter to overdrive earlier, and i did not look to the shifter when i changed the position. so, it went to neutral instead of the overdrive. i then stopped to the side of the road, that i could put the shifter back in gear. it seems to work fine now. did i do any damage to the transmisssion when i accidently changed it to neutral while driving?

Mythbusters did an episode where they drove along doing like 50mph and put the car in Reverse and Park and nothing happened because of safety devices in the transmission.

that´s good. next time i will look to the position of the shifter when im changing it to overdrive. there was some problem with the gas pedal,i could only press it down about one inch,i thought the carpet might be behind the gas pedal or something, but it didn´t. i drove to the garage and started to check the gas pedal and the wire in the engine room,i just could not find the reason why it would stuck like that. i took off the air intake and then i tryed to pull the wire again, and then it worked,it was not stuck anymore, how the heck it would such a thing, sometimes i think that car has a mind of it´s own.

Once I hit "R" going 30 mph over-shooting from a lower gear. The engine shut down and the car kept coasting. No damage to my Buick's 4T65...

I did the same thing in my 06 Accord ~6 months ago. Revved to 5200 RPM before I got off the gas. No problems. However, I note that the Owner's Manual says not to shift it into Neutral while the car is moving. I don't know what Honda's specific concern is. Some other car makers also have this caution.

Of concern is your sticky throttle - keep checking and looking for the source of that problem! They just don't go away on their own, and this is a big safety issue.

Such as if you don't want it hunting gears up a long hill, or if there's a situation you don't want to go faster, like a snowy road or going downhill.

Like everyone said, none whatsoever. When I had my 3000GT auto, the shifter was in kind`ve a weird spot, and my long legs would knock in into neutral all the time :^P
