Hi guys,

I have a 2009 Jeep Liberty 3.7l. It's slow as can be, but somehow has some strange character to it that I love. I found a Hypertech Max Energy "tuner" on Mecari for $23 shipped. I am assuming that these older style basic tuners probably just adjust the timing curve somewhat, and that is about all? It gives me an option for Regular or Premium fuel tune. Rev limiter increase, and top speed limiter. Is there anything else that these things did? I wasn't expecting much, but for the cost I didn't think it could hurt trying it out.

The item itself? Nope. I already have it. Came with the box and all of the original paper work. Apparently there isn't a high demand for Dodge/Jeep 2007-2010 3.7l V6 tuners lol worth a shot.

I bought a used bullydog tuner from eBay for my hemi and when I uploaded the tune the truck wouldn't run. They are a one car tuner and matched to the first vin. Thankfully the manufacturer was able to send me a new factory tune to get the truck running. Let me know how yours turns out, I have a 3.7 too.

I had a Diablo Sport on my Hemi, and it was the same way. This one is the same. It stores the original tune in the unit, so you can only use it on one. I went for a drive, ~30 miles. It does feel like it pulls a little bit stronger thoughout the RPM range, and just feels a bit better overall. It isn't like OMG can you feel the increase in power?! , but it does feel better in the higher rpm.

This is the unit that I purchased from someone on Mercari. I forgot to mention that it also allows you to change your electric fan turn on temperature. I'm assuming this is for guys who are rock crawling and stuff.

The thing that made the biggest difference was this Chinese pedal commander thing from Amazon. It's about $40 now, I think it was less than $30 a year ago. Anyway, it's adjustable on the fly and makes a huge difference in driveability. My Jeep is super laggy from a stop and it feels like you need to put a lot of pedal into it just to get going with traffic. That is no longer a problem now. It drives like a normal vehicle with this lol I know that it doesn't add power, but it makes it much more drivable.

I am guessing you have a vehicle that weighs 4000 pounds and has about 210 Horsepower. The tuner thing will mess your car up.
The Power to Weight Ratio sucks, but the car gets you from point a to point b.

Just wanted to add, that in no way do I expect something to make this vehcile fast. It's rated at 210hp running through a 42RLE 4 speed, weighs over 4000lbs. It doesn't handle well, it's not fast, doesn't get good fuel mileage, braking is just acceptable, the interior is cheap (although I do like the seats), but there is something about it that is just enjoyable. Maybe because you don't expect much from it, and it over achieved. Mine just turn 63k

I had a Hypertech tuner for my Mazdaspeed 3. In addition to adding a bit of power while tailoring the tune to my Mazdaspeed CAI- and it also removed the ridiculous 155 mph speed limiter. I was pleased with it as I had no plans to add any more engine modifications and thus had no need for a custom tune.

Mine has throttle body lag now that it has 280k miles on it. I have to recalibrate it with the key on, pedal to the floor and back 3 times thing every so often. You can tell a huge difference when you do that plus it shifts better. My GC is still getting 21 mpg with average driving and 24 mpg highway. The 3.7 is a good little motor. 200HP can get you around town or to work and back reliably.

It looks good, thats all that matters. I've owned plenty of fast cars and I still needed a good dependable daily driver.

Isn't that how you reset the oil change reminder?

I test drove one of these and it felt like it was bolted together really well. At the time it seemed more rigid than the grand Cherokee. I can see why you like it. Nimble, heavy, solid feet on the ground.

Yeah its probably only necessary to push it to the floor once but regardless it sure does make a difference. My jeep gets so bad you just about have to hold it to the floor to run 70mph sometimes. I even took the throttle body apart thinking the gears had a bad spot.

They work I had one to tune my f-150 biggest thing to watch out for if it was tuned to a vehicle and not cleared prior to selling the tuner otherwise it’s locked to the previous vehicle. You can email hyper tech and see if they came up with a workaround for this I know mine came with a usb cable for updates. Maybe they now have a workaround.

If that’s the same body style as the dodge nitro you could probably fit the jeep with the nitro rt sway bars and shocks or check aftermarket for bilstein shocks that’ll wake up the handling issues a bit
