Can anyone help me with the Ht/Hs value of valvoline maxlife synthetic 5w30, 10w30 and valvoline synthetic 5w40.

Thanks

follow up question. Valvoline maxlife synthetic 5w30 high mileage formula 75k. Is this oil safe to use in a new car?

Thank you for contacting Red Line Oil, we achieve our horse power and
economy improvements due to friction reduction, reduced metal-metal
contact, typically 3 to 5%.

What Shell is saying is a less sheer stable oil, one that sheers down
in use will make more power, like starting with a lower viscosity
oil. We find 2 to 3% improvement for each viscosity grade reduction.

By reducing viscosity, you reduce the windage, the parasitic and
pumping losses. Reducing the HTHS viscosity translates into lower
film strength and potentially less protection. Ideally the bearings
will float on a film of oil, the viscosity within the bearing isn't a
major contributor compared to other losses and if you do ever have
metal to metal contact that gain goes out the window. Better
protection is certainly preferable.

Maxlife HT/HS is very good. Most 30 weight oils will be lower. I would assume they are using a thicker base oil in Maxlife to get the good HT/HS.

Anyone have the HTHS for Castor oils as these have a high film strength. I'm intersted in trying to compare film strength between Castor ester oils and heavy mono minerals.
