How often do you change your OIL?

Once per year. I put maybe if Im lucky 5k a year per car anyway so I still feel bad to change it once a year. Now that Im hooked onto PU I may stretch it farther to get my money out of it.

alot of good advise here.
i agree with most: M1 and go by the OLM.
nothing wrong with protecting your investment

i have not tried an extended oci yet but i plan to with my truck. its all highway and if i change at 3k its every month it seems. as soon as its cleaned up i plan on running PU and a pureone 8k maybe more with a uoa.

my wife's explorer will probably always get 3k or 3 months with a cheap dino and MC 820S. its only driven 6 miles a day, most days

Follow my OLM. First OCI was around 4500 miles with 14% left, only reason I changed it before 0% was I was going on a long road trip.

Now my second OCI which still hasn't run out yet is at 3100 miles with 23% left on the OLM. Using conventional oil

I am still figuring things out on this. I may end up just going with the OLM with the Mobil 1 and a Napa Gold WIX filter.
I was considering doing a fall and spring change interval but I really don't want to do overkill and over spending on necessary changes.
You know GM does say use the OLM, could be that anything more is overkill.

On most of my vehicles I do once a year because I only put 3-4,000 miles on during this time. My everyday driver, a 92 chevy cavalier with the 2.2L, I usually go every 3-4,000 miles. I have a 60 mile round trip drive to work every day so I'm changing about every three months. The recommendation for this car for highway driving is actually every 7,500 miles but I have never gone this long. 5,000 miles has been the longest. I use conventional Valvoline in all of my vehicles.

I say that I will change my oil at a certain mileage and then I end up doing it 500 to 1500 miles before that. I get tired of thinking about it all the time when I get that close

I been doing 3.5-4k on GTX HM on a RAV-4. That usually take me 1-1/2 to 2 months. I should at least do 5k OCIs since the oil looks real good, but I just haven't pulled myself there yet. I know there is more than just the oil looking good.
The good about frequent time wise is getting to look at things more often compared to doing syn. 10k OCIs - I know, no excuse.

How often I change my oil really isn't that relevant to you--I have a different car, different engine, different temperatures and different driving conditions.

What I will say is that if I had a car equipped with an intelligent oil life monitor (like yours), I'd change it when the OLM was at 0% using an on-sale GIII synthetic oil, or 5-10% on dino, just to add in a little extra margin over the manufacturer's requirements.

I'll also say that I don't really believe that's "necessary", and I wouldn't sweat it if I was busy and ran it down to zero on dino.

My OLM is currently at 94% after 390 miles, so figuring a 1% decrease in ~60 miles, I could go to 6000 if I ran it down to 0%. Of course, when the dreaded vicious summer comes along, probably next month, the rate of decrease may slow. I'd say I do 5000 miles, about 5.5 months.

I have neighbors who do the same thing. Which is why I stay clear of buying lease returns.

98 Grand Cherokee gets 5k on dino and the Nissan Versa gets every 6-months with a synthetic (which is about 7500 miles).

2003 Silverado has 25K miles on it so I change at a little over a year which is about 3K. I have used dino since new but may go to syn.

2000 Concorde with 2.7 sludger gets 5-6K on good syn.

2001 Accord 4 cyl with 207K miles get dino to 4500 or syn to 6 - 6.5 K. Filter every other. It consumes/leaks (rear main) about 2 quarts every change. I add one and change when it needs the next.
