How much of your car do you 'use'?

I use my Jeep as a commuter during the week and a toy on the weekend. Right now it's packed with Prospecting stuff, metal detector etc.

Here I am, Last weekend on a 4x4 run to some old mines and historical sites you cant see with a 2wd car.

Is your ice racing wheel to wheel? I've seen youtube clips of folks doing this with their street cars. Seems a bit risky but everyone is pretty respectful, but still...
The rubber to ice cars that race here end up looking like demo derby cars due to all the rubbing, and the odd one gets a unrepairable hit every few weekends...

This one has seen few seasons...

Yep, my 350Z is my DD! When you're in love with a woman, you wanna be with her all the time, right? (At least, that's been my case with my wife of 36 years). So, the same happens with my Nissan cutie! I love driving around town and highway in her! The slightly bouncy ride wore off after about a week of driving her.
Wouldn't have it any other way!

My car was tracked regularly when new. Many visits to the strip and several road course events all over the country. Even did the Florida Mile!

But now she waits patiently in her stall for me to play on Sunday morning with a few friends on a 3/4 mile stretch of private driveway. Still shocks even newer sports car owners when I pull up in a luxo sedan!

Shocks them even more when I run it.

No, they space the street cars out. I don't run studded tires. I have Blizzaks.

My Mazda6 hatchback serves as an SUV/station wagon on many occasions.

I have carried some comically large loads in it. Usually for work but also for the home.

When I went to pick up my wood chipper, I could see the look of disgust on the store employee's face when he saw which vehicle we were taking the large container to. Like he was going to be out in the hot sun for an hour trying to cram this into another freakin' sedan.

His eyes got real big when the whole back of the car opened up.

"How'd you do that?" I pulled the release levers and the seats folded down. "I didn't think this would fit. This will fit easy. Are they all like this?"

"Nope. Some 6es are sedans, some are wagons....this one is kinda' in between."

It has really sold me on the 5-door's versatility. My next car will be a 5-door too. Maybe an A3, maybe a Subaru....maybe Saab will get back to making 5-doors.

My truck and Trans Am get used to their full potiential but are not daily drivers. The Buick and Equinox are the daily drivers.
The Trans Am was just headers, exhaust and tires in this video.
Now it has Cam, heads, N20 and a nice rearend.

Because to get the mpg I get with my 6, I would have to have a 2.3 Ranger, to get the handling I would have to have a Cayenne, and I will flat run away from an F150 4.6 or 5.4 or Ram 4.7 0 to anything.

I like trucks. I just don't care to feed one that will actually move quickly.

Absolutely although my "car" is a truck. I have a 2008 Dodge Ram Quad Cab w/ 4WD.

Quad Cab = I have a passenger in the back seat quite often. It is very handy to have the back seat for small stuff as well. Rather than having to open the tonneau up if I grab bread and milk I can simply put it in the back. I keep my gun, ammo, camera, etc... there when I am traveling to go hunting. Much safer than being in the bed of the truck. If I bring a coat because I am unsure if I wiill need it when out of the truck I can throw it in the back seat and it is out of the way. That kind of thing. For me, the back seat of my truck is used ALL the time.

Bed = I use the bed all the time as well. Haul everything from garbage to hunting and fishing gear( decoys, tackle boxes, rods, etc... )to anything that doesn't fit in the cab. I do one main food shopping trip p/ month and my Sister goes with me and does the same. We can fit it all in the bed with ease. Not so in a trunk of a car.

Towing = I tow a boat from May - February every year.

4WD = I don't off road or anything but the 4WD is used a lot during the winter here plus I use it often when launching my boat from dirt ramps and also late in the year( Dec-Feb )when waterfowl hunting and the ramps are covered in snow and ice.

I use my "vehicle" to it's full potential( for my needs anyway ).

My favorite drive is the Club Sport, I'd still take it to HPDEs but the horsepower is a bit low for instructor sessions.
The 2002 is another favorite; not fast but a delight to drive.
I don't drive the Mazdaspeed unless I have to- usually because I need to carry three or more people. It was supposed to be my HPDE car but it has proven to be much to fragile for the track. Hopefully I will be able to unload it before summer.
The Wrangler gets driven @2000 miles per year, mostly for errands around town or on the farm- it will probably be driven a lot more when my son gets his license in @6 months.
The X3 is my wifes's truck.

I use it all. As often as I can I push the limits of grip and abuse it like a rental. I regularly carry heavy loads and/or a trailer through the mountains. I used to do track days with it and hope to again in the not too distant future.

This week I will be doing a 1,500 mile round trip with over 700 pounds of passengers not including myself (200) and lots of equipment.

There are many times I am alone in the car, but not usually.

The Festiva which is my daily about 1/4 on a regular basis. When I drag the family around most of the time 3/4. A few times it's been loaded to capacity. About the same with Aspire and Escape but those two isn't daily drivers.

Most of the time, just me in my BIG sedan.
Sometimes, me and all of my stuff in the sedan, filled to 140% of capacity

Much to the chagrin of the import nameplated 'appliance/refrigerator on wheels' drivers in my area, I use my ride to the MAX (within safe bounds, of course).

And as my username implies, YES, it IS a daily driver, rain, snow, sleet, cold, ice, mud, etc., 365 days a year, with drag strip time trials, HPDEs, open tracking and autocross thrown in for good measure.

I use my 92 Toyota diesel pickup to its full extent sometimes. Most the time it is just carrying me and my dog around to go get things around town and to work and back and it gets 400 miles a weekend on it. Still though it gets 23mpg highway so its not too bad. When it does get used it really gets used though. Fill the box to the bumpstops with firewood or hauling big trailers around loaded up and the cab is usually always full as they aren't huge trucks inside. 300000 miles and still purrs like a kitten. And as for how much throttle everytime a real big hill comes out its pushing full boost and a slight bit of smoke coming out the back. I don't baby my stuff.

Sounds like me. Back in the late 1990s, all the was in the car was me and occasional a travel bag, and did mostly highway miles. Of course, it was a 1990 Town Car. Needless to say, the accommodations were not cramped.
