How many miles on your clutch?

Hahahaha! I forgot about that clutch. I replaced my pucks once and made sure they float in big clutch gear - huge difference. Most folks don't get how that clutch works.

Use a LUK clutch kit. Best ones for SL's.

Back in the 60's I would burn out a clutch about every 15-20,000 miles. Might have something to do with the way I drove back then.

Man I go through clutches like most people go through underware.

I usually, in my LS1 cars, have seen about 30,000 to 40,000 miles.

I put a Mcleod twin disk clutch in the Trans Am. I love it! Takes a beating and no chatter. 1.70 60 foot times It was, however, pricey. IMO worth it for my car.

My friction material is bonded so I'd need to replace the whole gear/clutch plate.

My last Camry's clutch made it to 180k, My Corolla All-Trac went 210k on the original clutch. Though that one wasn't slipping, it had a colapsed finger on the pressure plate that was causing it to grab. Dad's '89 Toyota 4x4 went 220k before the original clutch started to slip.
If you know how to drive them right, then they should last
at least 200k. Sadly not everyone knows how to drive a standard correctly.

I'm at 199,370, give or take a few miles, on a '90 Mazda 626, 2.2 I-4. Lots of short runs. Put 147,000 on my '86 Golf before I donated it. The Golf had the whee run out of it more than a few times (well, as much as you can with only 85 horses).

Come on? Where are all the 5000 RPM clutch dumps, burnouts and 1/4 mile passes? I don't know how you all do it. I couldn't drive something with less then 175 and 175 ft/lbs of torque.

224,xxx on the del Sol's original clutch. Such a small car doesn't take much clutch slippage to get it rolling.

Only clutch I've ever replaced was on my '86 Volvo 740 Turbo. The clutch linkage failed while it was sitting in the garage. It literally wouldn't move. Had to have it towed (only vehicle I've ever had towed too).

The repair shop said that they had to disassemble the clutch to fix the linkage, so they suggested replacing the clutch while it was apart. They said there was still reasonable wear left on the clutch - but it did have 185,000 Km (115,000 Miles) on it. Said they'd never see one go that far on a 740 Turbo.

I taught my daughter to drive in that car too. My wife drove it regularly - and she always double clutches in the winter.

130,000 on a Tacoma but she's showing her age. I blame it one previous owners.

97,000 on the Civic and it shows no sign of any wear. I think that one we could get it to go 200K...at least I hope so!

An International class-8 truck at work had it's original clutch replaced after only 88k miles. The steering wheel holder admitted to resting his foot on the clutch pedal.

My 95 saturn got a clutch at 60k for the previous owner. She must have learned to drive it better as I got it at 142k and am up to 208k... So 148k...

They decided in 2000 to make the clutches lighter, and our y2k version of same only got 40k with competent drivers.

My Mom had an Omni 024 Miser with around 50 rip roaring HP that needed 2-3 clutches before junking at 80k.

I save my clutch abuse for my motocross bike... I don't need it to go to work in the morning!

We had 150k miles on our old sentra which I think had the original clutch. The Tracker has 85k miles so far and I hope it will last the life of the vehicle.

'05 civic with 148k on the original clutch. Shifts like new.

I'm hoping to get 250-300k out of it. It's EXPENSIVE to get replaced. And, I don't have a shop to work on it myself anymore.

150k+ on wife's Wrangler.

I've never worn out a clutch. Pressure plate - yes. I had one oil soaked from the leaky rear main on my SBC ..after who knows how many miles that required replacement (same pickup with that needed the pressure plate).
