How many "CATERHAM BLEND" users?

Why would someone try and play tribologist and mechanical engineer to attempt to gain a nearly immeasurable goal of VII's that the majority of tribologist and engineers are not concerned about?

I guess everyone should have a hobby.

Great post.

+1 Exactly

lol ^

I've never blended those two oils, but if VI was your goal and 0w30 your requirement, I don't see why not. Of course, VI is not personally my end goal- at least not past base oil VI.

Tomcat, if you have it laying around go for it. But just bear in mind that your proposed mix is not the CATERHAM blend

I don't need to know as I don't live in NA, at least going by several posts on here.

It seems engines behave differently if you are not from NA

Must be our funny accents

I personally wouldn't go out of my way to blend oils , I would add whatever matched the engine spec if i needed an emergency top up on a long journey however.

Exactly.. here 95% off all car owners will pick up there car from service. Drive 15.000 km. Then the engine needs oil. They will stop at the first gas station on there way. And then pick up the cheapest oil that says "engine oil" fill 1-1,5L oil on it. And then drive the next 15.000 km to the next service. And they will probertly never experience any problems.

I blended M1 0W20 with 0W40 with different ratio depends on weather to achieve heavy 0W20 or light 0W30 or heavy 0W30.

It's perfectly okay to blend oil of different weight of the same brand and same type.

I have blended Mobil 0W-40 with Mobil 0W-20. People have been blending for decades, usually to use up old oil.

I got some free Toyota 0W-20 because of a dealership error and so I will be trying the Caterham blend this spring.

Here we use the : "Bubba Blend" ...Coastal & Super Tech !
Just Kidding - I'm sure the Caterham Blend has it's followers .

Blending? BLENDING!?!?!?!

Get thee behind me, [censored]!

Straight TGMO - or - straight ENEOS Sustina 0W-20.

Without the ability to test ALL the important performance characteristics of motor oil in MY engine, I will trust the formulators who do it for a living, and use their commercial products unadulterated.

You took a vote? where are the results of your majority vote?

Given that some take any intentional blend of oils as "CATERHAM" blend, I'll post...not claiming it's CATERHAM blend.

L67 - 3 parts Caltex C3 5w30, 2 parts Delo GOld Ultra. Intent with that was synth blend, fairly high adds. Border 30/40 grade, High HTHS, and cheap (were rebottled by local auto parts chain)...a little lubromoly.

Nissan - 5L Penrite 10-tenths 10W-40, and balance Mobil 3000 5W-40. Intent, getting through what was in the shed, with what I could buy to minimse orphan quartage.

Available next round of changes...
Penrite 10-tenths 5w30 (was cheap on closeout)
Castrol Magnatec SP 5W-40 - probably nearly enough for a Nissan change in and of itself (after Dad died, Mum didn't want a part full 20L rum in the shed, so it wasn't planned, but the Nissan goes well on this stuff...and it's green).

Caltex C3 synthetic - 3L or so
Delo 400 Gold - 3L or so
Probably use them n the L67.
