Hello gentlemen and ladies (if there are some new female members other than our wonderful Helen). I was wondering this last night while changing the oil in the girlfriends 98' Civic HX; should or could I go to 7500 mile oil change intervals on my car with PYB 5W20? Silly question I know as I drive mostly highway miles and some city miles on weekends here and there. Neither my civic or the g.f.s car uses a drop of oil also.

Thanks in advance.

You could always look up the same honda motor in the UOA section and look for someone else that uses dino oil and has roughly the same driving habits and go from there. May give you a rough idea ...anyway.

The big question is how long is your normal trip? If your normal trip is more than 10 miles one-way at normal highway speeds, then that's really easy on oil and a 7500 mile OCI should be no problem, even with PYB. OTOH, if your normal trip is only 3-4 miles, then keep doing what you're doing.

Hey and thank you OldCowboy for the advice and reply. Yeah my trip is about 25 min and mostly highway to and from work. The g.f. has bout 10 more min for her commute. Think I will do the 7500 mile OCI for the PYB. I know my neighbor is using super tech 10w30 in his 96' dakota 2wd for 6000 oci's. I would use super tech for 4k oci's max.

I would not go to 7500 with PYB. 5000 I see, but 7500 would be pushing it unless you had a massive sump or did 99% of your driving on the highway.
