How come they don't teach kids how to roll up hoses in school?

It certainly should be. Are parents allowed to teach such things? PC has become so ridiculous, that some places have had to enact 'Free-Range Parenting' laws, so parents aren't charged with abuse for teaching some self reliance and personal responsibility.

Back then I couldn't see the importance of them, but I sure thank my lucky stars now.

LOL Good one.
Yeah then later in college I believe I took hose rolling 101.

Parents need too. Can't count how many times I see people not put things back where they found them, can't clean their own areas, or other basic human orderly things.

Oh, you did not get your minor in Hose Rolling? Slacker.

This should not be a school thing (although the high school does have a "life skills" class that teaches a lot of basic things that kids should know, think of a more modern homec class.

I don't roll my hoses up until I'm ready to mow. BUT... if I had someone else mowing my lawn I would (and did) roll up the hoses before they came.

Something I would never subject myself to is an HOA. Some actually mandate hoses be rolled up. But beyond the appearances is the fact that hoses left on the lawn are a trip hazard.

It happens. Especially for the older folks.

They don't teach kids useful things in school. Just a bunch of bs so you can figure out what you like and don't like.

This not a job for schools.
They can't even teach handwriting anymore.
And why do you think the kids need to learn this anyway?
First they would have to go outside and that seems to be outside their comfort zone.

All this talk about rolling / coiling up a hose........

I bet anybody who can't was never shown.

Why not go for the gold and mention "cleaning a paint brush".

If cleaning a paintbrush was demystified a world of arts and crafts would open up to that kid.

The only thing I unrolled in school were cinnamon rolls into my mouth.

I am suprized they have opportunities to unroll that item since they think axe body spray is a substitute for soap and water. At least they won't be duplicating if they use them.

One of the new hires came from the ghettolow incoming housing.. his home never had a hose.
Took him 5x tries to even get it to stay on the hose reel on the wall.
He's doing better now.
I dont have to instantly fix it everyday as it was getting on my nerves with it being in a giant ball of tangled hose half on wall and half on floor.

So Just remember not everyone has the life or upbringing you have.

Speaking of abuse, my 8th grade shop teacher was slso the arrogant football coach. If some one screwed up he would take them into the "varnish room" and essentually terrorize kids. He would grab them by the cuff of the shirt and lift them off the floor up against the wall and scream in their face. One kid actually [censored] his pants during a "discipline episode". Good thing he didn't teach hose rolling.
