Do they do that on purpose to get ya to join the club? I know there are better resolution camera's out there. Oh and a few channels are fairly clear, but not many. Its like most are using a coke bottle for a camera lens :ROFLMAO: .

They are stingy with the bitrate. But the content producers can accommodate for that with steadier shooting.

Particularly if you are using a mobile device, check the quality of the video download. If you are set on a low resolution, data saver or some other restricted resolutions, or even auto in some cases depending on the bandwidth you've got, you will get low quality videos to watch.

You can force it to higher resolution.

Not a premium member, and I livestream to youtube (youth sports) regularly with zero issues. My viewers get my videos in high resolution if their bandwidth supports it or they force the settings to see it in that resolution. No need for premium subscriptions.

I'll also note that nowhere in the "features" for premium does it say anything about getting higher resolution videos as a subscriber...

But they do, I don’t know if they mention it, but it definitely exists. I will note it’s not extremely popular though.

All my videos are crystal clear, occasionally on my phone at home I have to force the resolution up because it’ll default to potato, which sounds like what yours is doing. They also have a setting that’s basically “data saver” and “quality.” Data saver will default lower and be real reluctant to jump up.

I'll note I was not the one having the resolution issue. No issues with bad resolution, etc... on my end.

Youtube premium does offer 1080p Premium. It is higher resolution than standard 1080p, but not up to higher standards like 4k.

Reality is for most users, they won't see a difference in quality between 1080p and 1080p Premium. It was never an option for me since I livestream sports - 1080p is the max resolution supported there...

No issues with the resolution on YouTube for me. But sometimes I do need to set it manually because in the default auto setting, it often uses 720p.
How do you do this manual setting? And set it to what? I do not belong to their club so I can't sign in, can I still change the resolution?
The resolution of the pc's is great so I don't need to change that.

long time youtube premium subscriber. i dont pay for cable or streaming services so i consider spotify and youtube as my cable allowance. i am not watching ads.

Deleted my post here.

I finally found the correct gear thingy to click on it was set on auto, yes a huge improvement. And thank you

Now I know the folks don't just have bad cameras. :)
