How can I get a good deal from vw

Thanks for the info. If that is the case I'll walk. I've read too many posts here and on some other forums of people getting sport wagons for 19.5-20.5k bottom line. If vw won't deal then I'm sure ford or mazda would love me to come see them.

Splash guards, mats, cargo trays and maybe wheel locks are frequently added at the port on VW's, its nice stuff and not unreasonably priced.

You can also use edmunds.com to help you with pricing.

Seems slightly shady that that dealer doesn't show you the whole sticker for the car.

22,720 is the MSRP shown on VW.com though. So it has 320.00 worth of accessories, it does not look like they are all listed on the dealer page.

Ah:

Options & Packages:
Roadside Assistance Kit - Roadside assistance kit includes booster cables, warning triangle, LED flashlight, multi-tool, work gloves, PVC tape, blanket, poncho, whistle, cable ties and assorted bandages
$85.00
Rubber Mat Kit -Set of 4 Monster mats with logo; Heavy duty trunk liner with CarGo blocks
$235.00

Looks like every single car in that area has these.

Looks like invoice is slightly under 22,000 and Edmunds is saying a good price is 20,250 (must be some dealer cash or hold back available.)

All Golfs get the floor mats and first aid kit upgrades. At the port. No way you can get them deducted, so try to negotiate elsewhere.

I drove 4.5 hrs to get my 2016 5MT GSW S in Silk Blue and Titan Black cloth (only one of 2 in my combo in CA at the time) for $18,425 + TTL
If you can get it for under $19k, its worth the drive.

Look into the VWvortex forums on $500 SCCA discount. Most dealers will offer this as a rebate on top of the lowest price you can negotiate. Its a VW rebate and should not affect the dealers' bottom line at all.

Good luck! I think the GSW is an unbeatable value at under $20k. A lot of (quality) car for the money.

I got the buyers order today. Out the door bottom line is 21,875. The only thing out of place is a 596.20 pre delivery/service fee. Everything else is the tax tag and tittle.

That delivery fee is noted on the webpage.

If 21, 875 is the out the door price (everything) that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I had a friend buy a demonstrator. The brand doesn't matter. A few months later they were involved in a minor fender bender. A bunch of body filler fell out. Turns out the "demonstrator" had been involved in a significant accident.

The dealer said that's too bad. They consulted a lawyer. A demonstrator is a "used vehicle", so there was no basis for a lawsuit.

Plus the fact there appears to be ONE manual transmission S sportwagen in the entire South East so it isn't like getting a demo is actually an option...

Wonder if the OP bought it?

No I haven't bought it yet. Just haven't had time to make a five our trip. I did take the buyers order to my local dealership today to,see if they could match it on a auto transmission. They have one 2016 left that I'm hoping they are willing to deal on.

Well I brought home my new sportwagen a couple days ago. Went ahead and got the 6at locally vs the 5mt 6 hours away. 22.5k out the door vs 21.8 for the manual, doesn't suprise me considering that the Msrp on the 6at is about 1k more. I did let them talk me into some extra warranty considering how much I travel for work. I would have ran out the bumper to bumper warranty in 18 to 24 months, I now have it for 5 years/60,000. I LOVE this car so far!

I need a good quality car cover, can someone point me in the right direction for a good properly fitting cover. I also need a really good set of seat covers considering that I'm a boilermaker.

I have a custom-fit cover from calcarcover.com that fits my VW very well.
