I put in dishwasher and start it. Wife never sees it dirty.

Wipe em with the blue shop paper towel and leave em in there stuffing the spout until the next use. At the next use, I throw out the stuff paper towel and wipe the funnel with a new towel then use.

I usually clean with dish soap and water, fully rinse, then thoroughly dry. Or just toss and purchase a new one.

I wipe mine then leave the wad of paper towel stuffed in the bottom of the cone. I try to keep the garage crud from blowing in the hard to get at area . Next use I give it a swabbing with it and quick visual before use. Mr Funnel goes in a plastic ziplock.

Mine's an old 1/2 oil bottle, with the cap. I store it right side up, which is upside down for a funnel, on top of a paper towel.

The threads from a castrol wide mouth fit my toyota valve covers perfectly.

I bought a Rubbermaid container, I take the funnel out and put the lid back on as soon as I take the funnel out so no dirt gets in. After using the funnel I wipe the bottom of it and throw it back in the container and put the lid back on.

I used to use those paper fast funnels. Now I just use a big red funnel sprayed down with carb cleaner before use. Also I leave a paper towel stuffed in the hole so it stays clean.

Remember the old metal can hole puncher and oil spout?

When finished the attendant would hang it over the garbage can to drain. This is outside.

Yep. In those days there was no such thing as a ziplock bag. I would stuff paper towels in the end.

Today I wipe the funnel and put it in a big zip loc bag. It's only used for oil, nothing else.

LOL I thought I was the only one who did that!

I take a different approach. I have a funnel dedicated and marked for each type of fluid (oil, ATF, coolant, etc., and different sizes for different applications). They're wiped thoroughly with a blue shop towel when finished and stored sideways (tall skinny type) or upside down (wide mouth). Then before the next use, it gets a quick wipe with a clean shop towel to get the dust out and it's good to go. Obviously I reuse the barely soiled shop towels...

I have several sizes and even a specialty version that J slots on the GM cap holes.
They are kept in a large clear leaf bag hanging on the shop wall …

A quick wipe with paper towel after use and a quick wipe again before use. So far nothing I own has suffered catastrophic failure due to this non OCD procedure.

Maybe based on the thread title … but ain't gonna happen in our house …

I found being very selective at Wal-Mart, a replacement funnels run under $2, from small to large. Not being selective, a replacement funnel can run $5 if not careful.

Not having the garage I once had, I often change oil and other maintenance at my work parking lot, and have made funnels a disposable item.
