I am always interested In High mileage (miles) vehicles of all manner where the owner has taken care of the vehicle and can say what he/she has done in maintenance and repair to get it that far. What do you think?

True, I wouldn't have driven my Maxima for 250,000 miles if it had needed constant repair, it was just as reliable for the last 100k as the first, just a radiator and a starter and the normal tires and brakes.

320,000 on my 2003 Bonneville. Just routine maintenance. Eng and trans both are untouched internals.

PS, don't believe everything you hear about OCOD filters....
 
I wish our Olds was high mileage because of a lack of repairs... About the only things left to go bad (that its known for, also!) are the head gaskets and the transmission valve body. >.<
 
I'd love to follow a high mileage forum!
Would definitely tell us which cars and engines are the most capable of stacking up the miles. I plan on running my car until the engine blows and going by other examples that should be a long time which might be interesting

Highest mileage car I've owned was a Mitsubishi Magna/Diamante with the 2.6 Mits/Chrysler engine. Blew a head gasket just shy of 300,000kms so I scrapped it.
Old man owns a 96 Pajero/Montero with the 3.5 v6, that has 370,000 kms on it but had an overhaul 100k ago.
My Falcon now has nearly 215,000 on which means I've put 100k on it since I bought it nearly 3 years ago.
A mechanic I know has a Falcon wagon (same year and engine as mine) with 960,000 kms on the original engine which has had just oil/filter/coolant changes. Has never had any internal work or had the head, sump or even rocker cover removed!
Recently got it's 3rd transmission though!
 
I just sold an 82 Volvo that has 504,000k on the clock and never had the head off. My current 89 daily driver has 450,000k. It *has* had the head off because I lost a bolt in the intake manifold and it jammed a valve open. Pulled the bolt out and put it back together at about 400,000k. Neither burn any oil or leak. Both run 5w30 M1 and got/get changed once a year. (about 12,000k for my daily). Neither of those rate as "high miles" compared to what get thrown around the northern hemisphere.

I knew of a few VL Commode Taxi's (with the Nissan 6) that clocked the odometers, but they were on gas and almost never stopped.

I'm sure you find outliers (Wednesday cars) from most manufacturers if you look hard enough.
 
If we were to have one we would have to insist that everyone post the respective units of measurement in either miles and/or kms to keep everyone's perspective and experience more accurately understood.

These days higher mileage should start at ~ 200,000 miles (or 320,000 kms) NOT the piddly 75,000 miles (or 120,000 kms) the oil companies (Valvoline-Maxlife, Pennzoil/Mobil/Castrol-High Mileage) would suggest on the labeling.

PS...OneEyeJack that Honda has amazing life on it.

They use 75,000 because the general public sees 100,000 mile cars as junk for the most part.

You can see that in uses car sales as well. A vehicle with 105k on it will cost substantially less than one with 95k on it.
 
Love high mileage stories!

I own a 1999 Honda Accord with 283 thousand miles on it. Bought it new and have done the following repairs...struts, sway bar links and bushings, upper control arms, lower ball joints, axle, evap canister, vetch solenoid, gas tank, O2 sensor, erg valve, high low transmission switch, front and rear engine mounts, three mufflers, brake lines, fuel lines, tie rods and general maintenance.

Original engine and trans. Original exhaust (except for muffler). Original alternator.

Best car I've ever owned - it's not my daily driver anymore - I've upgraded to a LS460, but I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere.
