That was my question exactly. I cant imagine being so decrepit or so fat that a rolling stool or a box is needed to check tire pressure.

I hate bending over, seems hard on the back. Plus it makes anything in my breast pocket fall out. I'll squat until something gives out, then go onto a knee. My back bothers me too much already.
When doing brake work I sit on the removed wheel, or if the ground is willing, just plop down (dry ground or frozen ground).
