Car is the Mercedes W202 C180 in my sig. Highway driving, no short trips, cold start temp is not a concern. Sometimes you just stare at your stash and can't decide. I plan to run it for 10k km (6k miles) again. Most popular vote wins. Total Quartz 9000 5W40, Total Quartz 7000 10W40, Shell HX7 10W40 (SN+), Shell HX5 15W40 (SN+), Vavoline 20W50 (reluctant to use it, probably diluted with something else).

Shell Hx5 15w40 all the way, if cold start is not a problem, you can go over 10k with it with highway driving. I'd change it every 15-20k

reason why 15w40 is because its a lot more shear resistant, a lot more durable too.

HX5 15w-40 has a pour point of -45'c, cold starting will not be an issue ;)

I've got Mobil Formula P 0w-30 in the workshop at the moment with a pour point of -36'c

Exactly, i can throw anything at it and it makes no difference at all haha.
As long as it has the required Mercedes-Benz approval. All of the ones listed have the same HT/HS requirement and I doubt the winter rating of the oil makes much difference there in France.

95% of the oils sold here have the MB 229.1 approval and above so i can basicaly pick anything i want.

Time to vote! Next oil change in the next days, here's what i have in my stash:

- Elf Evolution 900 5W30 (SL/CF, A5/B5, Ford WSS-M2C913-C)
- Elf Evolution 900 5W40 (SN/CF, A3/B4, MB229.5, A40...)
- Elf Evolution 700 10W40 (SN/CF, A3/B4, MB229.1...)

Elf Evolution is just Total Quartz with a different packaging.

I’d stick with one of the A3/B4 options. Occasionally when I’m in a similar quandary, I end up selecting a particular oil in my stash because I can’t use it in any other vehicle.
