Since I had pretty good results with the one OCI I did with Conoco Phillips Motorcraft 5w-20 and also because cooler Fall weather, which one of these CP based oil should I use for my next OCI: Motorcraft or Conoco Super Allseason Synthetic Blend, both in 5w-20?

Here is the Data Sheet for the Conoco Phillips Super All Season Synthetic Blend 5w-20:

and now the Motorcraft, which is well known here but may be fading like the local hip hop scene here in htown, allegedly.

UOAs of the Conoco Phillips Motorcraft 5w-20 are available in the UOA sections with simple search but not sure about the Conoco Phillips All Season Synthetic Blend 5w-20.

(Besides the FF, the only other oils I have used so far besides the MC, in the 36k miles so far on my car, are DC 7500, PP and the current M1)

Mix the two together.

I bet they are similiar...I dunno if they are exactly the same...but why would Conoco make one better than the other?, I mean this isn't SOPUS we are talking about?...I would go with the better value of the two...

they are probably pretty ---- close to each other, i'd try one and then the other and see which works better for you, and if no other way to decide, just go with the cheaper of the 2

Happy to oblige...always ready to run my gator mouth...I will go ahead and recommend that you use a WIX GOLD oil filter...either oil is good...flip a coin...

The Super All Season Syn Blend won over the MC! I just picked up my first case of the Super All Season Synthetic blend. 12 quarts! at 1.87 per qt.

Guess I got my first 'stash sighting' going finally. If I get the performance of Motorcraft (without any risk of varnish

) then I'll hit a homerun.

They also had some aftermarket Honda oil filters there as well. One was a Purolator Group 7 Part #4610 for 2.98 and a China made one under the Dynalube name Part # 4610 for 1.45.

Has anyone heard of any good things from at least the Purolator is not the China one?

He also said these filters are ones you see at the lube places but not sure if thats necessarily bad.

This being my first official 'stash', feels good to finally get a taste of what many of you here allready have. A good set of oil from brands that have worked fantastic in our individual application with the possibility of hitting one out.

Ohh yeah and I'll probably be picking up a Wix Gold filter as well if I can't find any Honda Filtech TL A01 oil filters...thanks for that tip!

Anything in the datasheet that sticks out at being better for this time of the year (i.e slightly cooler with chance to get much more by the time the OCI ends) I see the HTHS is .5 more for the MC while the VI is 3 ticks better for the Super All Season Syn Blend.

I just noticed Flash point is incredible on this thing as well as a mild TBN Improvement over MC. I am tempted to buy the entire pallet he had if it 'hits'. I can deal with one less tick in the HT/HS to get a better Flash Point, TBN and VI.

Here is a side by side comparison of salient data points:

CP Motorcraft 5w-20

Flash Point- 185(365)
Pour Point- -49 (-45)
TBN- 7.5
cSt @ 40ºC- 49
cSt @ 100ºC - 8.8
Viscosity Index - 161
HT/HS Viscosity, cP @ 150ºC - 2.65

CP Super All-Season Synthetic Blend 5w-20

Flash Point- 224 (435)
Pour Point- -42 (-44)
TBN- 7.8
cSt @ 40ºC - 51
cSt @ 100ºC - 8.7
Viscosity Index - 164
HT/HS Viscosity, cP @ 150ºC- 2.6

Can anyone else see anything in these numbers like the big difference in Pour Point(colder is better?) as well as the VI, TBN and FP advantage for the Super All Season Synthetic Blend!

I got the Napa GOld oil filter "1356" is this th right part number for the Accord? Anyways, GOt the oil and now the filter..it's almost go time.. Just gotta wait for the 15% to go down a bit more maybe 5 or 0%!! I got M1 in there after all!

I wonder if that low flash point for the MC 5W20 is a mis-print? The MC 5w30 and 10w30 are both in the 400's as are all of the CP products. The 365 just seems out of place.

No misprint. thats why I gave the URLs and they've been the same for MC for a longtime now. I've been to that site for many years now.

Now, I'm wondering if this Super All Season Synthetic Blend is *that good*!

Someone posted a plausible explanation for the rather low flashpoint of the MC 5-20.
However, furious searching did not produce what I was looking for.
Maybe someone else will remember.
