Need to replace the above converter.......any thoughts on whether I need to go back with OEM, or are there any good aftermarket brands..........which wont set off a check engine light. Should I replace all the Oxygen sensors while i am doing this? Car has 139,000 miles and runs like a top. The car runs fine but has an internal "rattle" that is getting worse. BTW, it is not the heat shield if you are wondering but sounds like a rock rolling around in a tin can.

Thanks for your help.

I don't know the rules/regulations in VA, but AFAIK, some States won't allow the sale/installation of aftermarket CCs on 1996+ vehicles. Too bad you're beyond the 7/70 Fed. emissions warranty on it. I'd live with the rattle awhile longer.

Rock Auto has Eastern,AP and Bosal all about $150.The Eastern direct fit are very good at not tripping cat codes.I would change the O2 sensors also (use Denso direct fit not universal).Stay clear of the universal fit cats for ease of installation at home.

Rock auto code for 5% put it in the "where did you here about us"

VA is not CA, so there is no problem with replacing the cat with an aftermarket one.

GoHeels1981,

I (sorta) hate to do this but why do you need to replace the converter? I know that you said rattle but it seems a little strange for no CELs & the cat to be bad.
