Tongue weight is more a function of hitch design and rear suspension.

I've pulled a mobile home over 100 miles with my K3500 dually.
Any guesses on max towing weight and tongue weight?

Good job on getting it done!

Best advise is to actually weigh what you are towing and make sure everything - the receiver hitch and ball mount, is up to par for what you actually have. Sounds like we are guessing its 1000 pounds of tongue weight.

After that, if you need bigger than a 600/6000 lb ball mount, buy one with the correct drop. Tractor Supply is a good option. Etrailer will also have whatever you need online.
