And from I can tell, is such a worthless over-hyped and pushed drug that it is worth anywhere from a tenth of that price to they should be paying you to take it for the increased associated risks that accompanies its use.

I guess that's why it costs more in the US. You're allowed to sue if something goes wrong. We aren't, unless it causes "permanent or severe" disability.

"you don't like the thought of helping people, do you?"

This kind of comment makes such discussions almost impossible.

He's not of that mindset man. He's just not of the mindset that all power resides in the hands of the govt and he's of the realization that when it does, it places limits on freedom and creates the entitlement mindset.

So it's best to not poke at others' character like that because quite honestly you're the one who comes off looking badly.

Last year, a grad nursing student showed me a study where Plavix wasn't anymore effective than preventing a stroke than a daily dosage of Aspirin. It's on the internet somewhere, but don't follow my advice please and get yourself killed.

Nope.

I also don't [censored] with them when it comes to billing. I don't collude with every other accountant in the US to create billing schemes based on various factors so I can bill certain people 3 to 4 times what I bill others.

Perhaps this is why providers and the few big insurance companies bill the way they do - there's hardly any competition. If you have all the big group policies, providers are willing to accept 1/3 to 1/4 what they normally "bill". It's guaranteed business for them.

When I had my appendicitis, I was charged $22,081.55 by the surgeon. He charged Blue Cross Blue Shield (ask anyone if they have anything BUT Anthem Blue Cross in CO) $6,310.32. They bill people like a car lot that sells cars to people with bad credit - there's no out front sales price!

The government is not the solution to fix the health care system. But the health industry brought it on itself by their shady pricing system. The system should be transparent. To have fully a functioning marketplace, you need to have free flow of information. Try having a baby in the US without insurance, you will be stuck at a minimum with $20,000 bill. I know a lot of people who don’t want to have kids because of the high cost of healthcare. It is not unusual to see $120,000 bill if the woman has a semi complicated delivery.

There is no incentive for the regular folks who don't have an insurance to pay their bill. The same people not paying their bills are inadvertently increasing the cost of healthcare in the US. It’s a vicious cycle that is hard to break.

oops, US government nixed that, too.

If we are willing to fly, there's always Taiwan, Thailand, and China in the worst case. They have European and American drug companies' drug there and the local generic version of the same formula to choose from.

Of course, having to fly every once in a while is a major pita.

This is a fair (and most importantly BALANCED) view. If you fear government intervention ...hold a privately held gun to the head of those who grab at the plate of bacon in some sibling rivalry to have it all.

This is a shark feeding frenzy.

I would scratch China from that list. They have capability but too much corruption. You never know what you are going to get.

Thailand has some good hospitals that can't afford to damage their reputation with the foreign customer base. I think Taiwan is about the same.

If you know where to go, India can be good too.

LOL, he openly wishes ill will on others and you equate that on as an attack on his character. Not only that time but repeatedly he's done that.

No assumption as to how he thinks or feels is required.

Now, I don't know why I waste time on pointing out the obvious but I suppose it's my curiosity at work.

Ahhhhhhhhh, so you once again resort to name calling.

I'll quote you one more time:

Which begs the question: why do you continue trying?

Everytime we have these debates, you give a tiny bit of usefull argument, then you start personally attacking people you disagree with. Then, you give us this hypocritical gem:

"That statement speaks volumes. It pretty much sums you up."
