why is it i can't find havoline synthetic
at my local auto parts stores?
i have to go to the havoline express lube to get
synthetic.
would it hurt to change over to mobil 1
fully synthetic so i can atleast change the oil myself?

Cause Havoline Syn is probably a slow selling oil compaired to the other syn oils. For about 30 cents more, Mobil 1 would be a better choice. If you have any PepBoys in your area.....use the Buy 3, Get 3 free coupon.

If you find that Mobil 1 creates a bit of noise like some others here have expressed, why not give the pennzoil platinum a shot and maybe do a voa. I am currently running the platinum 5w30 and like the performance so far, but have not had a UOA done yet.

Lots of Moly, Boron and Calcium are what show in Havoline products. I don't know if they whole package is better ot not, but that's what the VOA shows.

ok so i have 1/2 saying stay with havoline syntheitc , and 1/2 say go with mobil 1.
so now i am even more confused !!!!!

PepBoys was selling a calendar for $1. Proceeds from the calendar went to MADD. Inside each calendar is several coupons for various items, one of which was buy 3 get 3 free Mobil 1.I picked up 2 cases of M1 5W30 for my winter oil changes and the manager said "wow, those things are still floating around?" when I presented the coupons. I said "yep, see you in December when I stock up before they expire."

I have used both Mobil 1 and Havoline Synthetic motor oils. The Mobil 1 makes engines sound like there is loose metal flying around in the engine and it gets dirty real quick. Havoline Synthetic is much better in my opinion. I don't get the ching, chang out of my engine with Havoline. Havolines conventional is tops too. I once made a trip home one night 6.6 miles to be exact with no coolant in the engine at all. The water pump went out. Although towards the end of the trip the engine started feeling like it was locking up, it didn't. This was with Havoline conventional 10w30. Just changed the oil and filter along with the water pump and the car ran like it always has. I think this shows how great a product Havoline is.

I have got about 25 qts of this stuff on the shelf in the garage. It is all 5w30 and will be sitting there as I will now be using Amsoil.

It is for sale if you want it.

Advance Auto has it for 4.18 quart. The SM synthetic HAVOLINE has a better additve pack. then the SM Mobil 1. Heck non- synthetic HAVOLINE provides better wear protection than Mobil 1 , check the UOA section and see for yourself.

Awright, Drums. I'll play your games today.

Just what is the Havoline Syn SM additive pack and what components are "better" than SM M1?

Last time I checked, these Grp III syns have very little that shows up in a typical UOA/VOA spectral analysis.

Would appreciate any technical info that you can share with us.
