Havoline would be great too, and would be the least expensive ($13.24) jug except it doesn't come in 5w20 jugs, only the more expensive quarts, for some reason.

Same here in northern NJ, Motorcraft 5W-20 is the same price as your's. PYB is less in WM and I can get Formula Shell where I work, Lowes, for about $12/5 quart jug. At Lowes I can get the PYB for about $14/5 quart jug. Both of these prices are with the employee 10% discount. My Lowes is carrying an assortment of Orange Fram cans for only $0.10 more than WM, at retail! I don't use Fram so it doesn't matter to me. But for somebody who does it's an alternative to going to WM if you don't want to.

Just picked up Havoline 5w20 at a farm supply (Rual King) for $2.85 a qt. Cheaper than Motorcraft that is now over $17 per gallon at Wally World. So the Havoline worked out to $14.25

This place is great, not only do I get educated on oil, but english as well:) Sad part is, my wifes grasp of the english language is probably worse than mine:) Anyways, I've also given VWB or Nextgen consideration, infact I'm running the Nextgen in it right now...around here it is the same price as the white bottle. I helped my buddy pull the 3.8 apart in his moms dodge caravan awhile back and was not impressed with the amount of varnish built up inside the engine, and it had seen a steady diet of Valvoline Synpower with 5,000-7,000mile oci's. Ofcourse, maybe it was just the nature of the engine as well. I don't really give Castrol products much consideration as around here they are kinda like Fram oil filters...its not that it wouldn't work fine, its just there are better products for cheaper.

Havoline in SM, GF-4 is a great oil. I'm not so sure that the new formulation for SN, GF-5 is that potent with it's revised add pack.

I remember seeing a VOA on the New Chevron Havoline and all the Moly has been removed. Maybe Chevron/Texaco is using Havoline with some new "organic" formulation in the add pack....who knows? However, it was not the same Havoline of the past, with the robust add pack, from the results of the VOA.

Ok, I think I've narrowed it down to either the Motorcraft or Havoline. One other question though, is Chevron Supreme realy different than Havoline now since they changed to GF5? I've seen people post voi's on here that seem to indicate it is, but when you compare the viscosity, pour point, and tbn #'s, etc.that Chevron supplies on their website, they seem to be the same. I ask because the general concensous on here seems to be that the cheveron is now better than the havoline and I just found out I can order cheveron though work, till I pay for the shipping, it would probably cost the same and be more convenient to stop at Advanced Auto on my way home and get the Havoline.
