Havoline oil in a box

I drive a 2013 Jeep Wrangler and it takes 6 quarts of oil when doing an oil change. The big plastic jugs have 5 quarts so I was having to buy that plus one additional quart. I recently found at Walmart that Havoline now sells synthetic oil that comes packaged in a plastic bag which in placed in a cardboard box. The great part of this is that it contains 6 quarts of oil and it costs $20 which is nearly the same price as the 5 quart jugs of other name brand oil. I have used the Havoline box of oil several times now and it is very convenient.

You must be changing that oil quite often? The Smart Change box has only been out for a very short time.

It's been out for a year. I presume the OP has done 2 or at most 3 oil changes with this 'box'. He/she just says "several".

My truck takes 7 quarts, so I just "Frankenbrew" whatever is around & whatever I found on clearance.

The Kia Optima takes right at 5 quarts, so one easy jug takes care of that.

I'm waiting for the Havoline boxes to go on clearance before I buy any!

Buy two boxes. The extra quart from the Optima will complete the oil change for the truck. $40 for two vehicles isn't bad.

This is same oil in 5qt jugs just packaged in 6qt containers.

It's a 6 quart box.

A 6 gallon box would weigh about 43 lbs. plus packaging.

At our lab we would get 275 gallon "totes" of atf which weighed approx one ton.

Regarding this "oil-in-a-box" from Havoline, it appears to be a Walmart exclusive. What areas see these ? No Walmarts in the Cincinnati, Columbus, or Dayton OH area have this.

I have not seen the boxes either at my local Walmart. I would order online for store pickup. In my case, Wally's was out of stock when I needed it so I ordered the old fashioned five quart jug instead. Not quite the savings though but the same product nonetheless.
