Havoline jugs at Walmart?

You could probably do better than $3.50/qt through a Chevron/Havoline distributor. Give one of these a call:

Only downfall is that you will have to buy it by the case.

If I were heading your way, I'd truck some NC WM DS $2.87/qt or $11.50/jug out to you. But then again I don't have a '78 black TransAm.

Thanks for the offer! I also appreciate the link. I think it is too expensive for Havoline as well and will probably just go to WalMart and get a good conventional like, PYB, Quaker State or even Motorcraft since they carry the 5w30 as well.

Coffee,

I know you seem to have your heart set on Havoline, but again Chevron Supreme IS (just ask Ben99GT and others in the know) the same oil. The Autozone on N. 7th St (at Butler) in Phoenix had it in the 5L jugs on Sunday.

It was priced very comparable to WM. And it's a toss-up with Pennzoil (IMHO) for the best Dino oil in the 5W-20/light 5w30 range.

Just trying to help a fellow Arizonan out.

Take care,
Gary

It was closed out here in Southern California months ago. $5-7 5 qt jugs. Qt's $1+

WM had the $20 jugs of PP with a $15 rebate....$1/quart. I have a huge PP & QHP stash from all the closeouts. My average cost per quart is just under $2. So why buy dino unless it is $1/qt.

Do you have Advance Autos over there? They're $3/quart there and they're running a special where you get 5 quarts and a Purolator Classic for $12.99

The jury is not out yet with me. If I have trouble with my WM PP rebates as I did with a Pepboys PYB rebate, my interest in SOPUS products will drop through the floor [sorry Johnny]. So far they don't list on http://www.shellrebatecenter.com/pennzoil that they have received one rebate that was send before Thanksgiving. I have a nice stash of WM $1 Hav DS and when that runs out I can get Superflo for a decent price (much less than PYB).

Thanks for that link. I just checked my PP $15 rebate that I sent in sometime in late Nov and it says it was recieved Dec 12 and being processed. Seems kind of slow but at least it says it's being processed.

I am getting irritated at the retail level difficulty of procuring Chevron-Texaco commercial passenger type lubricants (Havoline & Chevron Supreme). Granted that this board has kind words for the very common Pennzoil 'yellow bottle' and Platinum I miss Chevron products. Yes, you can buy them from a distributor. However, unless you have a fleet/commercial account (or a good relationship with them) chances are you may pay 50% to 100% mark up OVER retail price. One distributor's price for TropArctic 0W30 left me wondering what is the point if it is more expensive than over the counter M1 or GC? I can say this as a former automotive service writer dealing with parts purchases...and as a potential customer to a distributor until I was slammed with a Chevron affiliates "list" pricing schemes. That being said a Shell distributor I spoke with was kind to the point of offering to have the route driver drop the stuff anywhere in my county than me driving 90-miles to meet them. After calculating my transit fuel cost, the distributor price was attractive. I ended up at Walmart buying a 5qt jug of PYB .... even though I wanted a Shell 10W30 HDEO

This leads to my final rhetorical question. Why can not Texaco-Chevron or even XOM start direct online sales of lubricants. Cutting out middle men can (or theoretically) drive down costs.
