Will be starting a rinse phase soon (Auto RX). Which oil would you prefer, and why?

Already using a wix filter. Probably will throw in a purlator one oil filter or use another wix filter. But which oil would you prefer and why?

I'll probably use 10w30 since the summer in MD can get pretty hot and not to mention the rush hour traffic.

Thanks!

In your shoes, i would run supertech dino.

Out of those three choices, i'd go with whatever is the cheapest.

I'm not a fan of Mobil products so I'm a little biased.

Most people in the additive section seem to like Castrol GTX or Havoline. I don't think you can go wrong with either and Frank has mentioned GTX by name.

Of the three mentioned in the thread title I'd go with whatever you can find for cheap.

I know Advance Auto is selling GTX for $2.24 through the end of August.

Same with the filter. Get something cheap. PureOne is too expensive for a 2000 mile interval.

Use the one your vehicle prefers - or uses less of. It's not what we prefer -- provide your engine with the oil it likes the best.

Never used any of these 3 you mentioned? Do two OCIs with each. Let your engine decide!

i've only had the car for 15k miles, and used mobil 1 synthetic. it's soon due for a rinse phase. i've never used dino oil, so i don't know what my car likes yet.

I'll probably go with castrol dino, since that's what i used in my beretta gt. 150k miles, not a single thing wrong with the engine. still blew away my friend's Dodge Hemi truck. lol

Frank does specifically mention GTX, I suspect this is because:
1. Experience has shown that it works well, and
2. He needs a "one size fits all" answer for some folks that read instructions, and then still ask,"What oil should I use?"

Any good SL or SM dino oil should work well. I'm in the 2nd half of a 100,000 mile+ double treatment in the 194,000 mile Neon. The oils I've used so far:
Clean #1: Formula Shell SL/GF3
Rinse #1: SuperTech 5w30 SM
Clean #2: SuperTech 10w30 SM (now has ~950 miles on it)
Rinse #2: plan to use Formula Shell, probably 10w30 since it'll be run in August & September.

Any of the oils you mention should work well. Lots of other good choices are available too. Pick one, follow through & don't worry. JMO

for a rinse- i wouldn't mind running ****. i'd run an sj if i could find it for real cheap and my car recomended it. Aloot of potentially good oil gets thrown away using the Rx treatment- i'd use supertech

GO to Wallgreens.Shell is a good rinse oil,high in detergents,dispersents,,in fact not a bad oil,good for what you are doing,,usally cheap,like 1.29 qt.BL

GTX is fine. I'm not sure what BlazerLT is referring to. Frank has specifically said GTX is okay and I think he'd know.

Anything but synthetic.

Go with the GTX. Good oil.

I can see you're new here. Welcome. Please read the thread before posting. I can see from this post, and your other posts, that you love Royal Purple. That's a topic for another thread, another day.

Synthetic oil should not be used with Auto-Rx, please, don't confuse the thread originator any more than necessary. ;)

Thank you for the welcome. I did read the post and and I did mention castrol syntec being a better oil IMO to regular castrol. I just happened to mention that I like another oil better than castrol. The thread in here is "Topic: Havoline Castrol or Mobil? " I picked Castrol
