...And by that I mean turned on the A/C or put in the window units. Well it's been 70s and 80s lately, and quite humid. So tonight my mom finally broke down and told me to turn on the A/C. In addition, due to the nature of my bedroom (it's always a billion degrees, even in the dead of winter) I put in the $35 5,000BTU window unit I have, and thank god. I don't understand how people live without A/C in the summer.

Been using A/C since end of March on and off. For a while we were switching between A/C one week and heating the next. Crazy weather this year... It's supposed to be 97F here on Sunday.

Pete : that's exactly what we've been doing don't you love Midwest weather. "Hey honey is it warm out or do I need a coat " her " its 78 degrees its warm" me " in the middle of January !! Really??"

Same. Started using it even earlier than normal because of the high pollen count.

We had few 70's during the day and high 50's during the night, then it went down to 60's during the day and mid 50's at night, so I have to close windows at night and open it during the day.

We don't have A/C and we usually turn on the fans about 15-20 days a year, normally we don't even turn on the fans until July.

Been running the A/C for a few months now. Last week a few days got to 100. We've got a few more days in the upper 80's the back into the upper 90's next week.

Yeah, Ive been running my window unit for quite awhile. We have central A/C but Im the farthest point and I have more electronic equipment than I probably should have in this size of room. A couple times during the winter I turned it on 'fan only' since it becomes an oven in here.

I turned the AC on in my house about a month ago. I can't sleep very well when it's hot in my room, so I also have a fan as well. I find I need to set the thermostat to 73 degrees in order to keep the second floor at a comfortable sleeping temperature though (it still ends up being about 77-78 upstairs when the downstairs is 73)

Same "feature" here on my house.

Just close up a few of the vents in the lower floors (the cool air comes down the stairs anyway) and when the system is running the warmer areas up stairs get more cool air.

For my place it makes quite a difference in how the upstairs feels.

Take care, bill

Just turned on last night for the first time. If it was just me (no woman or heat-sensitive animals) I would probably never turn it on.

Yep, put in the little window unit earlier this week, and fired it up last night. Until it cooled enough to open the windows, that is. We also have a Vornado going, so it's not too bad with some air circulating.

Setup a Mitsubishi ductless minisplit instead of window unit - now the room cools down to 68F in 10 minutes when outside is 90+. As an added benefit, operation is totally soundless and silent in any variable speed mode.

My AC went on about 5 weeks ago. I have a box fan and set the day AC temp at 79 and 77 after the sun is off the house in the evening. I just can't stand a humid house. Ed

Just something to think about; My father worked as an industrial refrigeration engineer for over 40 years. In the second house we lived in, he installed central air one summer (big job) He did some record keeping and found out it was just as cost effective to leave the AC on all the time than it was to allow the house to heat up and then try to draw it down to a reasonable temp. Lesson might be "don't wait for it got get hot before turning on the AC"
