Has Anyone Become Brand Loyal?

I "guess" I'm loyal to Castrol. I used GTX pretty much exclusively over the past few years and then recently switched to GC. Great oils, so why not?

No reason at all. My first Chevy truck (1990 4.3 V6) is still on the road with 175K miles. Sold it to a local transmission shop to be used as the shop parts truck. I used nothing but GTX and, sorry, many times used those blasted orange filters.

I suppose that this thread demonstrates that oil preferences are somewhat based on things other than actual quality..

The ultimate question for me is this: who has used a name brand oil, changed it regularly, used decent filters and had an oil related failure? I'll bet no one.

So, why do we spend so much time on BITOG discussing this? Because it is interesting, challenging, and, well, pretty darn neat....

Still in searches. When my BMW was still alive I was loyal to Castrol Formula RS 10W-60. I was using it during 7 years until Castrol changed its formulation and did not say a word to the public. Well, BMW TIS had a notification, but who has an access to TIS amendments if the car is not under the warranty ?

With Honda:

Motul 300V 15-50 and 10W-40
Motul 6100 5W-40
Motul 8100 0W-40
Motul 300V 5W-40
76 Nascar Synthetic 10w30
76 Pure Synthetic 5W-40
Motul 300V 10W-40
76 Nascar Synthetic 10w30 + Motul 300V
Caterham 5W-50
Elf Synthese 5W-40
Castrol Formula SLX 0W-30
Elf Synthese 0W-40

Still have to try:

Fina First 5W-50
Marly Black Gold Bio Carat 5W-40

The latter is the most fascinating giving its specs:

Then, may be, I shall make my final choice. And just a small remark: some Prelude VTEC owners complaint about high oil consumtion, but it never exceeded 0.7/l in my car despite frequent 5000-6000 RPM during 2-3 hours. Believe the use of 40-50 grades help to keep engine in a good shape.
