My kid is 8 and can't stop talking about cars. However, the one thing I'm having a hard time explaining is hand cranked windows. I guess there are a few left, but not many. I remember the Lotus Elise had them to shave off some weight.

Dodge neons had power in the front, crank in the rear.

The downsized Chevy in 1978 saved interior rear hip room by having fixed rear windows that didn't move at all!

Had a 95 Civic hatch DX with crank windows. Wasn't too bad being a 2 door but a 4 door would suck. The 95 didn't have AC either.

My kids are in their 20s. Not sure if they've ever seen crank windows.

We have one. It's a black wall mounted Western Electric - hard wired from before they used RJ11. It worked when we still had AT&T phone service but stopped when we switched to VoIP. But it's still powered as I can still hear some line noise when I pick up the receiver.

My daughter is 8 - I'm keeping my 1979 F250 forever - it even has WING WINDOWS!

Oh, How I wish those were back.........

My 95 F150 (still the boxy style) has the wing vent windows. Cat's [censored]. Sadly, it's the Eddie Vetter edition with shag carpeting and power main windows, but, hey, great truck.

A few years back I was surprised to run across a base model focus (or was it a Fiesta can't remember now) that had power front windows and manual (crank) rear windows...

Back in 2002 my six year old son thought the hand crank windows in the Wrangler were really neat.

Hi, unfortunately the US spec ones had power windows. Early RoW ones had manual windows...and I wish mine did.

Funny though, at our Superbowl party a friend took his young sons to my barn to look at the cars and they were amazed at the BMW 2002's window crank handles, after having to be shown how to open the old school, chrome push button door handles.

My jeep has hand crank windows. Electric was not an option in 02. My F250 was my first car to have electric windows and locks. I bought it in 12. Before that I had never owned a car with electric.

I never understood those wing windows. Just seemed to make a lot of noise and my parents always told me to shut them whenever I opened them.

2003 echo; crank
2006 b2300 crank
2007 yaris crank.

BTW my brother lives in central AK and crank windows are preferred so replacing wiring harnesses every few years in the doors won't be necessary

Wing windows are awesome; I even had them in the back of my 1991 caprice wagon....

Wow, I thought pretty much everything had AC by the early 80s.

For a long time, electric window cars would have round plugs in the doors where the cranks went on the manual ones.
