What - just AAP ? Include O'Reilly's and Autozone in your drive by circuit to pick up additional sale prices on oil !

It depends on what you are willing to buy, and what you want to pay.
Purchasing rules will vary depending upon what you have stashed.
Currently, I am probably ~100 qts or so, so I don't really need to buy any oil for some time.
Therefore, unless it is dirt cheap, I pass on it.
If you have a stash, you build it by buying when the oil is really cheap either on closeout or with MIR.
It is hard to pass up PP at $1.49 on closeout, or $1.00 after MIR, for example. You then have plenty of a very good Grp III product to use in anything.
At the moment, I have 22 qts of PP, probably more, so if I think the little Subaru might benefit from a run or two of it, for a little cleaning, I have it on hand, and it was really cheap.
I also have plenty of filters for it, since it uses the same filter as the Accords, unlike our Forester, and I bought a bunch of the appropriate Puro classics in '09 using the $10.00 off $25.00 coupons that were then available for AAP, and I also stocked up on P1s using the online order discount, as well as the 40% off online orders coupon codes that AAP has been offering recently.
You buy quanities you'll use over the next couple of years when you find deals, and you can then avoid buying at full retail when you need to do an oil change.
Just like laundry detergent or toilet paper.

My point exactly. We don't have any AAP stores around here. The usual "deals" at AZ or O'reillys? Meh. The only deal I have seen was MC5K jugs for $10 @ AZ last summer. I got two jugs of 5w30 and 8 qts of 5w20. Other than that, all I see are the one or two dollar roll backs @ Wally World...

One dollar a quart for DINO???

That's 8 oil changes or 2+ years worth of oil for my camry. All of my friend/family either prefer the local lube places or uses a different weight oil.

Am I the only 1 hoarding so many oil for myself?

About three years ago I got in touch with my inner Oil Hoarder who has always resided in my id waiting for a chance to get out.

Naturally I am now always on the lookout for good oil on sale. I have a box full of about 14 quarts at this point.

Once the Oil Hoarder takes over your mind, you become like one of the Pod People. There is no escape and resistance is futile. It will only end when the Sludge Monsters finally devour every engine in the Universe.

I bought those over several years, whenever Kragen or Pep Boys had a sale with mail in rebate, sometimes there was 2 rebates at the same time one from Kragen and another from Valvoline, and the net cost was few bucks in my pocket along with free Synpower cases.

The last deal was about $3/qt Pennzoil Ultra from Amazon, they had wrong prices for 5W20 and 10W30 on their site for some minutes, I bought 4 cases and received 2 cases 5W20 so far, the other 2 cases 10W30 was on back order.

As someone said, when you have plenty of oil for few years you just sit back and wait for killer deals whenever it comes. The good deal is when you can get at a minimum 50-60% less than every day price. Killer deal is when you get 80-90% less than regular price, or FAR (Free After Rebate).

Noob. The mania starts when you combine a sale with a rebate for free oil. There is then no stopping the frenzy. You will be hiding the oil from your family, dusting it daily, and breathlessly reporting your latest find to fellow addicts.

4 vehicles. Smallest sump is 6.7 quarts to largest is 9= 30 est. quarts for a change for all 4. I have just over 100 quarts. And change oil 2-3x year depending on use/mileage. All purchased on sale.
