Something I have noticed recently with Castrol GTX Magnatec after changing over to Mag in my 2013 Mustang GT (5w20) I noticed when I check the oil the I seem to get blotches of oil going up the dipstick a few inches something I have never noticed with any other oil. So I am wondering could Magnatec be sticking to metal like the adds say? So three days ago I changed my oil in my 2012 Nissan Pathfinder 4.0 V6 with GTX Magnatec 5w30 and after checking the oil after 50 and 110 miles I have the same thing oil walking up the dipstick. Not solid all the way up but in spots? And yes I have the correct ammount of oil in both cars. Has anyone here noticed this happening? I am going to change the oil in my dads 2016 Ford Escape with Mag this week and see if I get the same results?

I have only used it in our KIA which is difficult to check unless you let it sit overnight, so I have not noticed what you are talking about. I wouldn't be surprised if your hypothesis was correct however, I do think the typical start up racket in our KIA is a bit less than with anything else I have tried.

KC it would not surprise me if you get less starting noise one of my reasons for switching to Mag in my Pathfinder is a few reports from Nissan Frontier and Pathfinder owners noticing less start up noise with the same V6 running Mag. I will say they seem correct since I to notice less start up noise with my 4.0V6 in my 12 Pathfinder. (The Nissan 4.0 DE40VE V6 timing chain can make quite a racket on startup)

At a guess, I'd say what you're seeing is being caused by the silioxane polymer antifoam that you get in all oils. These things aren't truly soluble in base oil which is why they are good at preventing foaming. However if they aren't properly dispersed in the oil or if they agglomerate for whatever reason, you can see strange surface active things happening. Like I say though, this is just a guess...

Using the 10W-30 here, and it looks just like any other oil that I have used when looking at the dipstick.

I didn't notice this when I ran the velvety quiet magnetic. My '14 Rogue uses NO OIL so I only check the DS a day after the OCI ( in the nicely level work parking lot) then maybe once a month.
You didn't overfill did you?

Put me on the list with Magnatec making my 4.0L V6 Nissan much quieter than typical conventional oil....most notably in the winter months. However, it also burns about 1/2 a quart with the Magnatec over 5,000 miles while I don't have to add any if I use conventional oil (210,000 miles).

Using Magnatec 10W30 A3/B4 right now and I haven't noticed what you are talking about.

Looks the same on the stick as other oils for me.
