Incorrect. Most of the payments ended in 1963. Some claims were paid later to Israeles to immigrated to the U.S. after WWII

Maybe because the U.S. took over payments. 3.5BN every year in donations to Israel. Since then.

Another puppet government supported by tax dollars of the USA.

No way in [censored] could they afford all their F-15 , F-16 , etc... without our help.

Israel does not have the pride to admit this fact.

If they're both socialist and one is doing great and the other is not, it seems as if there are other factors at play that determine the success of an economic system that goes beyond socialist versus capitalist.

Socialism works if the nation is prospering, and the population as a whole has a good work ethic.
So it works in Germany, it worked in the UK until we got lazy and it won't work in Greece.

Claud.

Failed Greek socialism to (alleged) Israeli terrorism in less than three pages.

I don't know if I should be impressed or appalled.

I think I'll go with appalled.

I agree to a certain extent.

In the U.S.....just about ANY type of welfare or socialistic endeavor is immediately leached upon by the vast amount of low-lives and dead beats. Those that work are given the burden of those that won't.

In places like Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden....socialism actually works pretty well. At least in the form of a social democracy. The citizens of those nations have a much more agreeable culture and a different mindset that allows for socialism to work.

"I said at that dinner, that meeting, because the Europeans came into that meeting basically saying: 'We’re going to teach the Greeks a lesson. They are really terrible. They lied to us. They suck and they were profligate and took advantage of the whole basic thing and we’re going to crush them.' [That] was their basic attitude, all of them. "

That's the plan, to crush us. No reforms, just taxes.

What does the EU gain by "crushing" Greece?
It may feel that way at times but that is not their goal.

91% of welfare recipients in the US are elderly, disabled, or in working households.

If this is for real it's a joke.
America should buy the whole country. Militarize the entire nation and use it as a base of operations. Send the Greeks as refugees to be assimilated except for the good chefs. For them the CIA can front restaurants around the globe.

Or not

You really believe that don't you. Slice and dice the words "elderly", "disabled", and "in working households".

Think about it..where does this data come from? I know people that are getting payments that they don't deserve bc there ways around it. But bc they get payments they are reported as falling into a legitimate catagory. People that get the payments are way smarter than the government. They have been doing it for generations.

Obviously your anecdotes trump their research. Thank you for correcting me. From this point forward I will use your post as a reference in future conversations regarding welfare. I am sure that those I share this with will find your thoughts to be a enlightening as I have.

And how much are states required to pay because of unfunded federal mandates? I don't think the federal government fully funds those programs.

Looking at federal numbers is only part of the picture.

Heh heh, I qualify in at least 2 categories as disabled /elderly. Having problems to solve is a good way to while away the day and keep my mind and body working. May as well get paid for it too. I love my fifth and last career. My aches and pains keep me alert as I drive.

If you have numbers that go beyond "I saw a guy..." I'd love to see them.

I'm also unsure of what how much states have to pay has to do with this. I'm refuting the idea that "ANY type of welfare or socialistic endeavor is immediately leached upon by the vast amount of low-lives and dead beats." Unless you think of your parents/grandparents as low life deadbeat leeches.
