I wouldn't call the Chevy 4 Roadster a street rod... I think you know what I am referring to.. Stock Economy 4 cyls made into "street rods" by kids.. Put an exhaust that sounds like a horse with bad gas, and some funny body panels and pretend it's awesome.
Yeah but when a Japanese guy dresses up a car in bad taste and it inspires you to do the same thing here, its considered "trendy".
Street rods I almost don't even suggest using as a term. Street rods sounds like someone actually modding a car with something other then plumbing parts for an air intake.
The correct term for kids these days are ricers. And not to harp on the Asians with that, RICE literally stands for race-inspired cosmetic enhancement...

If it is a rear wheel drive 4 cylinder car and fast, but not obnoxious looking, I can live with it.

Properly modified import 4cyls with money into them sound nice and when built are pretty quick, now the 16 year olds with imports that just found the pep boys rice isle and what ebay is make the rest of us look bad.

I haven't seen rice in the past few years. It seems good.
No offense to the 4 banger crowd, I know some killer Hondas running high 9's that are VERY quick/fast.
But they still sound "that way". Same with a V-6.
It's just gotta have a V8 for me and my tastes.

I know what you mean. "Street Rod" to me means that the basis of the car was built prior to 1950.(though it probably has lots of stuff on it. The Chevy 4 Roadster had an Oldsmobile head on it....or at least it started life as an Oldsmobile head. I'm sure it was ported, machined and massaged to the "nth" degree.)
Then there are the cars that you refer to.
If a terribly cosmetically modified Japanese car with a flatulent exhaust is "Rice", What about a BMW 318i with "M" badges, the tackiest chrome wheels that he could find, giant wing and equally obscene poor quality exhaust? Is that "Spaetzle"

your NOT allowed to say you have a fast car with out, saying how fast it is.
