Grease Gun Refrigeration

I have half a mind to start keeping the grease gun in the kitchen refrigerator. Whenever I need the grease gun, it's always in the middle of the summer. Half the cartridge is liquified. The liquified grease always runs out the back of the grease gun where the plunger is. Being that I always use red grease, it looks like a murder scene on the garage floor. I'm pretty sure it will fit, but it's a vintage USA made Lincoln grease gun that's full size. I'm very proud of that grease gun. I've been storing it in a large ice bag so that it doesn't drip everywhere. The grease I usually buy is the Sta-Lube Sta-Plex full size cartridge. Would I be the only guy in the world who stores his grease gun in the kitchen refrigerator?

I had that problem with mobil 1,
I currently keep it in the basement (60f)
or in garage in a garbage bag.

no matter where I stored it with m1 grease.. it was a drippy puddle mess.
The garage grease gun has "green grease" in it and doesnt leak out.

there are better greases to use than the Mobil 1 (red) grease. make sure to take the pressure off your grease gun plunger helps also.

I discovered something by accident yesterday. I was changing out CV axles and I needed a grease that I could put on the spindle ( steering knuckle ) where it slides in between the two blades of the lower strut mount. I wanted something very sticky with a high degree of viscosity, so I opted my tube of Dow Corning one-eleven. What I discovered was even though it was 105F outside in my garage, the grease was the same consistency as it was last winter. Amazing.

As it turns out, the previous grease in my grease gun that was all liquified from the heat, was Valvoline Crimson Red.
