Good oil for Impala SS?

I recently purchased an '09 Impala SS 5.3L LS4 V8 with Active Fuel Management aka Displacement on Demand. I was reading in the manual that the AFM uses the oil pressure to keep the valves closed while it's in 4-cyl mode. It also said something to the effect that the quality and condition of the oil is important for it to function correctly. Should any oil be OK, or does anyone have suggestions for a better oil in this particular engine?

What wt. does the engine require?

Do you have any brand preference? To be honest, any synthetic that meets the manufacturer's specs is what I'd recommend. If you have a brand preference, go with the 5w30 synthetic of that brand.

Any API SN/SM certified 5w30 and follow your OLM and you will be fine.
