Both Correct.
G-Oil is a Non petroleum oil, refined from beef fat left over from US Slaughterhouses.
Valvoline's Next-gen is Petroleum based, but 50% of it is re-refined, or recycled, used motor oil.
the only connection is they are both "Green" products.

the only 100% recycled oil I've seen in the states, is the one i'm currently running. ECO-Power, made by Safety-Kleen (Essentailly what y'all in the Great White North get as SuperTech), but it's very sparse, not sold online or any brick and Mortars. you have To find a repair shop that sells it. (and when i did, it cost me a little over $40 US for 5qts)

That's what I meant...If Valvoline is having a hard time marketing 50% recycled oil...imagine what G Oil is having to deal with marketing a non-petroleum product made from beef tallow.

G-Oil does seem to show low wear metals in some (not all) UOAs, but so does Synpower at the same price, and while Synpower is not noted for its TBN retention, G-Oil looks even worse.
Another problem with G-Oil is that formulation appears to change frequently, maybe with every batch.
This could be the reason that there is no PDS.
The formulation simply isn't consistent enough to provide one.
Some batches appeared to have Euro level HTHS for example, while others are in line with most SAE 5w30s.
I have a decent stash of this stuff I got FAR, and I'll use it in something for a few 4-5K runs and then UOA it.
I'd like to see this oil and company do well, but they won't if they offer their oil at the same price point as known performers like PP, unless they can offer some advantage not yet seen in their product.

No oil will always have low wear metals , as for Synpower it is a good oil as well. As for G-Oil formulation changes they seem to be improving, higher TBN more detergents etc.

The 0w20 was released on Amazon in the past day or two, and when I checked on day one they had 10 cases, today they have 5. So even overpriced on there, it is still selling.

Also I tend to use this as much as I can with rebates, as well as influence co-workers to do the same. However, I think I am the only person in my area who buys any of it, and we still have the old jugs here.

It's very hard to establish a new brand from a scratch, especially if the new brand is a bit unconventional.

I support G-oil as much as I can, especially as the rebates are coming. This is a quality product and my own high temp testing confirmed that.

Then you do not understand the "biodegradability". Certain environmental conditions have to exist before it degrades. It sitting in an engine is not going to do it.

Also, I asked the question and G-Oil personally told me that they certify their oil for a 5 year shelf life.

FWIW My Local Autozone has it on the clearence rack, at 1.99$ a qt, about 8 qts of it, didnt know anything about it, didnt care to pick it up, old bottles, like really old, not the usual dusty old back stock, more like the former home of a family of rats with what appears to be roach feces on it.

I'd use it, but 5W-20 is very scarce. In fact, the only place I've personally seen it is online. I've never seen their 5W-20 oil in person, though I know they make it. If local joints start carrying the 5W-20, I'd probably give it a try.

Currently the only "black bottle" G-Oil available at Walmart is 5w30. They were supposed to add 5W-20 and 10w30 to the mix but that hasn't happened yet. The only $26 rebate's thus far have been for black bottle 5w30.

I've used the black bottle 5w30 in several applications. Only going by color and consumption (not UOA) I'm pleased with it. None of the Walmarts in my area have the new formula yet.

Maybe if G-Oil made a good Flash animation explaining what G-Oil is on lowest-common-denominator terms and put it on Youtube and Facebook people would buy it. Picture it:

A cartoon cowboy shoves a cow into meat grinder out of which some brown liquid pours into a drum. A cartoon science dude in a lab coat ladels some liquid from the drum into a flask. Science dude then walks over to a rubey still-like contraption and dumps the liquid in. The contraption wiggles and makes noises and whatnot, then fills a test tube with light amber liquid. Science guy smiles and, clearly delighted, skips over to a crunky looking jalopy and pours a drop from the test tube into it. A bright starburst animation signifies a miracle, then the car smiles with glee and drives up a twisty mountain road.

I think the reason is that G-Oil is unknown brand being priced at the same price as Mobil 1. Joe six pack with no BITOG account will likely buy mobil 1, castrol or pennzoil if he was going to spend this much.

yes good point, they are expecting people will buy it because at that price because "it's good for the environment " When most people just want something to protect their engine. I buy oil for what it does first and if it is good for the environment it is just a bonus. So I became much more interested in G-Oil once I started to see the UOA's

It is priced the same as Mobil 1 but does not hold up (tbn)nearly as well as Mobil 1. It does not have the 36 years of synthetic oil manufacturing behind it that Mobil 1 does and is a relative unknown compared to Mobil-1. It's like trying to market a SMART car at the same price as a Lexus.

I was a Mobil 1 user however since reading this site I have not been impressed with the Wear numbers so I don't care how long they have been producing their oil they haven't been making a very good product for a while now. G-Oils UOAs look better to me. I Know that Mobil could be making a top oil since they are the largest PAO Producer in NA however the UOAs tell me that they are cutting costs and living off of their name. I would rather give my money so someone that is trying harder to produce a great product.
