GOIL - Why isn't it more popular

I have been reading a number of UOA posts and every time I see a GOIL I am impressed with the wear numbers. Since this is an American Made Product and Environmentally safe I would have thought it would be more popular. I have heard that GOIL is in financial trouble, I hope that isn't the case. If it was available in Canada I would buy it ( had my wife pick some up on her last US shopping trip ) We can buy the 2 stroke oil at Canadian Tire. I know GOIL could do a better job with their web site by producing PDS for their oils ( I emailed to ask why they don't have them ) buy it should be doing better especially at the price for a full syntheic

It is a good product with a good back story. It doesn't retain TBN very long, and at it's price point most other oils are a better product in that regard. Then again none of the other products are repurposing a waste stream. Also, it only comes in one weight and is not very widely available.

If I had my way they'd drop the price to around 20 bucks, stop with the constant rebate game (I have gotten all of mine, though) and maybe bribe wally world into carrying a 5w-20.
 
Love those rebates! My second one is in the mail coming my way in a couple days. 2 more to go. I have had G-Oil in my SL2 for 2700 miles so far. Seems great, no complaints. I read they reformulated the oil for extended OCI. Personally I would not exceed 5k regardless of product so it does not matter to me.
 
I only paid 26 for 4 quarts that is a GREAT price in Canada for full synthetic and that was without a rebate.
What about supporting / buying it because it is an excellent product that is made in the USA ? If I could get it locally that is all I would use even with a low TBN, I would just change it more often. I think it is a great product and I would love to support it more if I could.

as others have said, limited selection(last i checked 5w30 only), high price, limited availability.(I've only ever seen it @ amazon(with their crazy oil prices), & walmart, but then not every walmart. it's hit and miss.)

GET's proprietary process produces saturated chains of carbon mainly in the 16 to 20 carbon lengths that mimic crude oil distillates in structure. They have way more than just 5w30 but maybe not at the store you see it at, I have looked at their web site. I have my complaints about them as well I can't understand why they wouldn't Product Product Data Sheets for their Motor oils ? I emailed to complain but got some lame excuse.
 
Most drivers don't want to take a chance with "biodegradeable oil". Also, marketing a new oil brand costs so much money, Goil doesn't have that kind of fund to compete for shelf space at retail stores.
 
If a brand name as well known and well respected as Valvoline has a hard time marketing Nextgen imagine a company with the name G Oil trying to break into a market.
 
When you can buy mobil1 extended/highmilage/fuel ecnomoy for same price at wallmart, why would anybody trust an new company that centers itself in being green? We are not socialized to see that its all American company...doing good in a bad economy.

Thats the problem I think most people will choose Castrol GTX and as upgrade use mobil one, if G oil was in the gap ( price wise ) it could be winning formula.

Its great oil , with great benefit .... I love them , but for price i will buy mobil1 ANY day

Nextgen is a different product altogether while G-Oil does have a product similar to Nextgen their full Synthetic is an advanced oil. It is fully synthetic so I don't see the comparison ?
 
With Mobil's recent history ( UOAs have poor wear numbers and it seems to be an inferior oil at premium price) why would anyone trust Mobil Money and Marketing are what drive peoples decisions. I am influented by them like everyone else, however after doing all of the reading on this site, have come to the conclusion that the UOAs tell us what oils are a well priced and which ones are over priced. I believer G-Oil is well priced for what you are getting and it is struggling US Company. I would love to support them more but again not very available near me.

I've looked at their site as well, and yes it lists all sorts of different weights of oil.
but in real world, brick and mortar shopping, the only other oils of theirs I've seen on a store shelf are 2-cycle, and bar & chain.

Both Correct.
G-Oil is a Non petroleum oil, refined from beef fat left over from US Slaughterhouses.
Valvoline's Next-gen is Petroleum based, but 50% of it is re-refined, or recycled, used motor oil.
the only connection is they are both "Green" products.

the only 100% recycled oil I've seen in the states, is the one i'm currently running. ECO-Power, made by Safety-Kleen (Essentailly what y'all in the Great White North get as SuperTech), but it's very sparse, not sold online or any brick and Mortars. you have To find a repair shop that sells it. (and when i did, it cost me a little over $40 US for 5qts)
