GMC Terrain that bad?

Wife drives a 2014 Terrain with a 2.5 4 cyl. She doesn’t drive much. Maybe 3 thousand a year. She loves it. We purchased it used back in 2017. I think it has about 55k on it now. It is on its third set of VVT sensors. First 2 sets were covered under the emission warranty. I had to pay for last set. I think the last set has been in for about 2 years now. Everything else has been fine with it.
I just replaced both VVT-i solenoids for the second time in my buddy’s ‘11 Equinox. It’s an easy job!
Can’t keep exhaust parts or stabilizer bar links on it and it has lots of leaks at 96000 miles.
Look for exceptional examples of either.

Rochester and NY seem to have a different level of rust. I had a regular truck run to Valeo on Lyell (sp?) Ave. hauling plastic pellets and even the truck would have corrosion leach into suspension components , had big rust blotches on the frame, etc.

If you buy it, change the oil more often then not. It likes clean oil. Actually, change all fluids often. You should be ok. $7000 I think is reasonable

As "The Car Wizard" always says, there's a reason HONDA & TOYOTA cost more.

Without even clicking on that video, I can tell you that I had that exact Highlander, right down to the colour. Only thing I did other than maintenance was an oil pressure sender during 12 years of ownership!

Thanks guys for all the help
She wants a car for the snow , but don’t get that much snow anymore , maybe 2 weeks during winter.
We live in Utah county
Unless you get the deeper snow that may need AWD, a sedan with winter tires will get her anywhere much safer than an AWD on all seasons.

My Accord, my Sonata, my sons Forte are good for 7"+ of fresh snow on winter tires. Plowed burms/ramps etc may present an issue. If It's deeper than that, maybe stay home if an option until next day when plowed.

But I do get it. Wife needs to be happy. Mine would like a larger SUV with more clearance. She saw a slightly lifted Pilot and said we should do that. In the meantime it does Beach, gravel/light mud to hunting cabin. After market skid plate does have some nice scrapes in it.

FWIW my wife had a 2012 Equinox 2.4 and it didn't use oil or have any issues at all. It was very reliable and got decent fuel mileage in the high 20s. Those cars need maintenance. From new, I changed the oil every 3,000 miles with Rotella 10w30 (not the recommended 5W-30) because those are direct injection motors and supposedly the soot or blowby or whatever is hard on timing components. I also changed the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. Do your antifreeze too while you're at it. I would avoid a Kia; GM products are better. Take the Terrain for a long test drive and let your mechanic look it over unless you know and/or trust the person selling.
Does the power steering feels a bit weird too ?
This is my 1st suv, I don't know how they normally feel
