I dont know if I've been passed hearsay but has Gm reformulated EOS with significantly lower levels of zinc? I have not seen any current VOA. I wonder if there is a difference between Canadian or US GM EOS product. I've spoken to my local Chevrolet dealership and the parts manager said they've never been notified with any changes in the formula but he did mention that they dont get such information even if they did.

Just a concerned flat tappet engine owner. The rampy cam with 150 seat pressure and 350+ over the nose of the cam is concerning longevity of the cam.

If anyone can shed some light I'd appreciate it very much. Seems BITOG would be the place to ask such questions.

TIA
Alan

Doubt there have been any recent VOAs on it. Probably you should get a bottle (make sure not old stock) and send in your own sample for analysis. Or you could just run Redline oil, though your OCI probably is not very long to justify Redline. There are a few other zddp adds that have more recent VOAs: SLOB and CD2-75K. Maybe others.

I think you'll be fine with the EOS but if your worried
use SLOB or CD2 like mentioned above, there proven products
with a recent VOA's..

Info much appreciated. The Canadian autoparts stores seem to always lack such additives and selection. I'll have to hunt around but in British Columbia Valvoline has pulled all of their warehouses so majority of the stores out here do not carry much Valvoline products.

I'll see if CD2 products are around.

People seem to rave about GC (different car application for me) but its impossible to find and it costs over $9 a liter my shop cost and I've NEVER seen a rebate of any sort in Canada.

Thnx guys!!

The CD2 products we mentioned are on clearance at Big Lots.

Street Legal High Performance Oil Boost (SLOB), in a pink pint bottle with about 4800 ppm zinc.

CD2 75000 mile additive in a black pint bottle with about 4000 ppm zinc.

Proven in what way? I don't recall seeing any definitive wear tests.

You're right. The only thing that is proven about SLOB is that one bottle of it tested out to about 4800 ppm zinc. Maybe that is what he meant.

Ain't no Big Lots up here though.

Canadian Tire has some CD2 products. I haven't seen SLOB or the 75K additive but maybe they could special order it.

Tonight I took a trip to my local Canadian tire store and they dont have such a product from CD-2. Nowhere can I find synpower additive either.

I recall seeing an old GM EOS VOA

phos 6144
zinc 6290

I'm having no luck. Is it easy to get these additives shipped to my door??

Thanks again!!!
