I am putting together new drawers for my kitchen cabinets. What glue should I use!

I think a poly glue would be constantly oozing out and would not be a nice finish.

I have some Elmer's wood glue Max. Is that ok? Or would something else be better?

Thanks

Edit: wood is cherry.

That glue will do just fine as would any of the Titebond PVA glues. A properly fitted joint with any of those glues really will be stronger than the wood. Too tight = glue squeezed out because it's tighter than a slip fit or very light hand press fit and too loose is (in general) greater than 1/64" so what you've got there is just right. Nice work!

My preference for dovetails is actually hide glue.

Any of the PVA wood glues work well, and are exceedingly strong, but they don't offer much working time.

Heaven help you if dovetails get stuck, that PVA will set up and those workpieces are a real bear to get apart again (you'll need steam...).

Hide glue, because of the longer working time, allows you to fit the piece together and still correct alignment if something shifts.

Titebond III is what I use. It has superior water resistance to Titebond II. Either one works well if the gaps are small and the adhesive is stronger than the wood. If the gaps are on the loose side, epoxy resin is a better choice.

I use Titebond as it is an excellent glue. I typically use a cheap brush to spread it quick, tap the joint together with a mallet and clamp it. Make sure you use scrap wood under the clamps to prevent damage to the finished product.
