It sounds like you just need a refresher course and practice...then some more practice. I hadn't fired a gun of any kind in 45 years until buying a new S&W shield about two months ago. My groupings are getting progressively smaller with each visit to the range. I've field stripped this pistol probably 75 times or more just to become more familiar and more comfortable with it. It took me 30 minutes and a youtube video the first time, but now I can strip it and have it back together in just a couple of minutes. The guys at the range are a big help also. It will all come back to you in a short time. Good Luck
