My local Honda dealer offers $40 for alignment check, and an additional $40 for adjustment if necessary. Can they do a before/after alignment print-out for me?

Or will I have to find a specialized alignment/body shop for this type of service? Do these places charge extra for print-outs?

Each alignment machine is different, but I'd think any alignment computer that can do "after" printout would also do a "before" with just the stroke of an additional key.

Next question is,, would you be able to interpret wether changes were actually needed or still just milking you?

They should offer a "free" check then just charge $80 to line it up, for marketing reasons IMO.

Less than 1% of their customers would hear they were, say, toed out, and go home and start adjusting stuff on their own.

Plus the "free" inspection turns up loose ball joints and stuff which is why a lot of people show up at alignment shops... car not holding the road that well or steering precisely.

The printout is nice, same as getting a printout of your emissions numbers, makes you feel like you got expert service for your money. Sort of like getting your cholesterol numbers in the mail after a physical...

The factory alignment specs are in my service manual. I'll be adding a kit to adjust static front camber to about -1.5°, and I'm worried a lazy technician will tolerate a few tenths of a degree in variance between the two wheels and call it a day. Even a minor difference could result in uneven steering in a straight line. I want print-outs for verification and documentation.

Because I don't trust other people touching my car.

Do you have an alignment shop that will adjust the alignment the way you want it instead of by the book? Be sure that's understood before you let them start.

Euro Tire in Fairfield will do all of the above. (I don't know where you are in Joisey?)
They are very professional, and they can (and WILL) handle lowered cars, unlike your average Firestone/GY/STS tire store.
They even sponsor/race 911 series Porsches.

I had my car lined up last year and my van the year before at 2 different places and I got before and after printouts at both places without asking.

Why would I pay $$ for an alignment if I don't get a printout? Modern computer controled alighment equipment gives a printout. Any tire waraanty will require a printout showing your vehicle was within alignment specs. before they will give you a dollar adjustment.

I had an alignment done at an NTB, and the machine was tremendous. Hook four little receivers up to the wheels and the computer gives graphical readouts showing the specs for the car in green/yellow/red charts versus the readings.

My tech was a really nice guy and showed me all how it worked. He didn't do a heck of a good job on the alignment, but it's a 10 year old car with multiple problems. And it had some kind of warranty, so I'll go back in the spring.

Don't forget that a properly aligned car will pull with the road crown a bit.
Sure, you can play games with settings and make it neutral if you only stick to the right lane, but I am uncomfortable with this.

+1

Compromising alignment for road crown is only right for one amount of crown in one direction.

I would rather know something is trying to make my car go other than in a straight line than have a suspension alignment hide it some of the time.

If you don't get a printout of the specs, be wary. Who's to say anything was done at all? I always print out the sheet, it saves hassle and gives the customer peace of mind.
