***?! That's outrageous.

My local AZ used to stock Zerex G05, then dropped it a few years ago. Was gone for a long time, then it came back...was there for a few months, then disappeared again. That was about a year ago.

AutoZone sure has some strange stocking policies...

Gah, I wish I'd seen this thread earlier--I just wasted a trip to Pep Boys to pick up some more G-05. I stopped by the nearest NAPA and they didn't carry it, either.

I know the local AutoZone and Kragen don't carry it, either. It looks like it's getting pretty hard to find this stuff!

Those DexCool mongers are everywhere pushing DexCool and haulting the sale of G-05.

I would order Asmoil AF before I put in DexCool. (I believe Amsoil AF is great stuff, but feel G-05 would be just as good if I could find it).

Depends on whether the local NAPA franchiser wants to stock it. Mine doesn't.

AZ here stopped carrying ALL Zerex coolants, I've been getting it from the local KOI Auto Parts (a local tri-state chain) that carries it because they're a Valvoline distributor (also where I get the Premium Blue Extreme syn motor oil)-I would suggest trying to find out who distributes Valvoline, they should be able to get it for you-$14/gallon last time, cheapest the identical Motorcraft Premium Gold is $21/gallon.

Amsoil AF is propylene glycol which you can get in Prestone Low Tox http://www.prestone.com/products/print.p...Coolant&regTM=1 , for about a third the price.

Unfortunately (or not, who knows?), DexCool is the main formula these days, with the exception of the G-05 and the lo-tox brew mentioned above. DexCool-style, Single-OAT formulas seem to be it in the aftermarket. But darned if I'd let it go 150,000 miles, that's for sure, GM or not. Also, if my manual specifically said G-05, I'd surely use that. Other than that, however, I don't know if there are ANY formulas of heavy-silicate syrups out there anymore.

Here in Indiana, nobody seems to carry Zerex. I wanted some G05 for my 08 Mustang for a top off if ever needed. Everybody wanted to sell me uni-coolant. I said no thanks for a car under warranty. Ended up having to go to the dealer to get it. Surprisingly, they didn't bend me over the counter to bad.

This looks like an old, old thread... and I just saw Zerex G-05 in a local schlep-boyz a couple of weeks ago (Jan 2009). Maybe its just a local thing.

I hate Pep Boys in general, but they do have a pretty wide selection of oils and coolants so I poke my head in from time to time. My local CarQuests also carry Zerex G-05 FWIW. Lots better parts than the Boyz, too.

I noticed this last week when I went in to take advantage of the synthetic oil sale. The G-05 was cheaper than any of the universal stuff. Plus, make sure to pick up a Zerex rebate form for $2.00 off a gallon.

I have a local independent AP store, they carry alot of OE coolants. BMW MB VW TOYOTA PINK AC DELCO and Motorcraft (G-05) which was only 10.50 and alot cheaper than the dealer.
