Time for another thread where we BITOGers can wallow in our obsessive attention to detail..
Oil and coolant are two fluids that need to be filled regularly (but hopefully not too regularly) from the top of the engine bay. Those of us who use a funnel to fill both fluids are faced with a choice:
1) Reuse the same funnel for both coolant and oil.
2) Keep separate funnels for different fluids.
Even when using different funnels for different fluids, you still might have to use your funnels on multiple cars, and thus potentially mix your oils and coolants together (not that this matters at all...)
So when using the same funnel for both oil and coolant, what can be used to adequately clean it off so you don't contaminate your oil and coolant with each other? Is a thorough wipe-down with a shop towel good enough? Obviously we're talking about very small amounts of fluid here, but you can never be too careful
Conversely, is the only way to really satisfy this paranoia to keep a stash of funnels, each kept neatly in its own plastic baggie?
